Connect@Sea

Does anyone know if Celebrity has changed it's policy and pricing with respect to Connect@Sea?

Last October on the Constellation transatlantic, we paid $100 for unlimited in-cabin internet access for the 14-day cruise. I've heard conflicting reports that the charge is now $25/day for limited access (up to 50 minutes/day, which works out to $0.50/minute), and $0.75/minute thereafter.

We're sailing the Infinity trans-canal in October, and the same access we had for $100 last year, will cost us $350 + this year. That's one very hefty increase, no? Not that Celebrity owes me an explanation, but how do they substantiate that increase? I can't imagine that that many passengers are dragging their laptops along on their cruises to make Connect@Sea a profit center for the cruiseline. Nor can I imagine that so many people are taking advantage of Connect@Sea that is it operating at a loss, thus the increase. Sounds like highway (seaway?) robbery to me!

We sailed the Infinity last December and the going rate for access was $25/day unlimited.

They may have had a deal for the whole cruise, however all the in cabin connections were gone by the time we checked. Since they could not provide us in-cabin access, they offered us unlimited access on their computers for $25/day. We were even able to sign onto two computers simultaneously (there were two of us travelling) for the one $25 fee.

Is the inroom access for Millennium class ships only? I am sailing on the Galaxy tomorrow and it would be cool to have unlimited inroom access for the 10 days - if the price is still $100. $10/day seems pretty reasonable to me.

Infinity, Summit and Constellation are the only ships in Celebrity's fleet that offer Connect@Sea. We were just on Galaxy in February and it is not available. Enjoy your cruise!
