I have a different take on the situation. It really depends on the ship and the room. In most connecting veranda cabins that we've been in, the fact that the door was there necessitated that space in front of it be left open when they designed the furniture plan. Therefore most of those connecting cabins did not have the larger sofa that the non-connecting ones usually had, Often all you got was a chair, or a very small love-seat instead.You need to ask around about your particular ship, and find out what their connecting cabins are like. I was happy enough with the very small love seat, but not with only having a chair instead.
