Be aware that the fridges do not keep things very cold (about 45-50 deg F). I always take along a collapsible cooler and ask the cabin steward to keep it full of ice. That way we can have some ice cold beer or soda whenever we wish.

The refrigerators also have stuff in them already. Pop, water, mini alcohols, candy bars. You can have the cabin steward unlock it and empty it, but it's easier to use the ice bucket to keep things cold. You can always ask for more ice buckets.
