Hello,
Our family is going on the conquest out of new orleans. The ports we will visit are jamica and cayman, does anyone have any advice for shore excursions to these two ports. Also hows the shopping. Is Jamica dangerous? Do we need passports? Also any info on the ship would be appreciated.
thanks

For Grand Caymen I'd definitly recommend swiming with the sting rays. I've heard that booking direct with Captain Morgan's is less crowded than the Carnival sponsored tour. As for Jamaica, I don't really know what to recommend. I've been on the river rafting tour which was ok for an older person like me. In my opinion, yes, Jamaica is dangerous & also the vendors will nearly drive you nuts trying to sell you something. Prices vary, so haggle with them for a good deal and you can come home with some inexpensive souvineers. Shopping in Grand Cayman is mostly for those who have a lot of money to spend, but there are many very nice shops.

In Grand Cayman Captain Marvin's offers the most incredible excursion to Stingray City. I'd highly recommend this tour. He has tours of different lengths and at different times of the day so there will be one that fits your timelines. Do not miss this excursion it is WONDERFUL.

In Montego Bay we did not care for any of the ship's tours and yes we found the locals to harass us a lot, and we did not venture out past the shopping area at the pier for this very reason. We went back to the ship and enjoyed its amenities while everyone else was ashore. However I have heard good things about Carolyn Barrett's tours, but we have not tried them.

By the way, Conquest is a fabulos ship and I am sure you will have an amazing cruise.

I've responded to your other post so please refer to that for the excursions. But as far as passports, if you have them, bring them. If not, don't get them just for this cruise, you do not need them. But you do need to bring a notarized birth certificate and a picture id (driver's license) in place of a passport.
