Constellation in April

Hello:

Has anyone sailed from Bayonne, NJ? We are sailing on the Constellation and I was wondering what the weather and seas will be like. Will we be able to swim before we get to the Caribbean? We sail on a friday get to charleston on Sunday and then head to the Caribbean. I have heard that we may not be able to use the pool (no Water) and that if could be rough and cold.

Any information would be great.

Also how do I put the countdown on my signature?

Hi. Click on the words "cruise tracker" which appears at the top of the messages page. Then follow the directions to put your tracker on your posts.

The weather and seas in April from Bayonne can be iffy. I once sailed from the Port of Baltimore in April and a misty, dreary, foggy day and a half it was until we got further south. The good news is that on the Connie you will have access to the T-Pool. This is a therapy pool--not really designed for swimming, but you get a relaxing start to your cruise from the bubbling water and water spouts in this heated pool. It's got a roof overhead, so even on rainy days can be used. And there are two hot tubs in this covered area as well.

Though Connie like most modern ships has great stabilizers, you will probably feel the "motion of the ocean" if you encounter weather at sea. But there are plenty of things you can do on board even if its raining and cool on deck. There's a complete spa and exercise room, a well-stocked library, a great spot to have afternoon tea and cookies (The Cova Cafe) and a movie theater. I'd prepare for bad weather at the start by bringing a good book to read or knitting or something and hope that I'd be pleasantly suprised by warm weather and moderate seas.

Terie,

I haven't done Bayonne, but have sailed from NYC in the Spring. Deborah (Sailboat) has given you good advice. Whether there is water in Connie's outside pool or not, it will probably be way too chilly in April for the pool. But, the T-pool is inside and heated, so you can get a headstart on swimming. And, you will find that the ship has plenty to do. I promise you won't be bored.

You will definitely feel motion in the open Atlantic, though it will not be bad, more than likely. If you are concerned, take some non-prescription Bonine with you, or see your physician for a patch before you sail. Personally, I have found Connie to be very stable and have not had problems with motion.

Enjoy your cruise.

Thanks for the information. It only took my several tries to get it working. How do I get it at the bottom of my posts?

Has anyone done an excursion with the dolphins? We were hoping to do a "Royal" swim in Grand Bahama but I can't find any information. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
