constellation itinerary change?

I just went to the cruise cams above to see where the Constellation was right now. According to the Celebrity website, the itinerary should be identical to my cruise, which embarks March 5th. I was surprised to see they were out at sea when they should have been in Grenada. Then I saw the itinerary on the right: looks like they've dropped Grenada and Casa de Campo and substituted St. Maarten. But, the most disturbing part is that the itinerary is 1 day shorter!!! Does anybody have any info?

I think what you are seeing is a six night cruise as opposed to the 7 night. This intierary was changed because the Constellation came off of a 9 night cruise on 1/2/05 and to get the ship back on the 7 day sailing, the ports of call were intentionally changed. We sailed on the Constellation back over Thanksgiving and Grenada was replaced with Dominica as a result of the hurricane over the summer. We loved the Constellation and we are returning over next Thanksgiving. Be sure to try the Oceanliners restaurant. Also, if you don't book a tour in DR, stay on the ship. It's a waste of a port.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was kind of excited to go to St. Maarten instead of DR, because of what I had read here. But, I was NOT excited at the though of 6 nights instead of 7. How was Dominica?

Dominica was the most different of all caribbean islands. VERY VERY green and lush. Not too much of a beach going island. The volcano on the island causes most of the sand to be black/ grey. This port tends to be more of a sightseeing or exploring nature island. You will find many tour operators at the port who are reliable if you don't want to do a ship sponsored tour. We did this and saved lots of money. Be sure to select one of the operators who are in a uniform or is wearing a badge. We went to the Emerald Pool and Rainforest. The rainforest is amazing and is a true rainforest. They get over 400 inches of rain a year. When selecting a tour operator don't cross over the street and select one of the individuals offering to take you around the island. The earlier you get off the ship the more options you will have.

The shopping in Dominica was also pretty good.
