We took the aerial tram in Costa Rica, and it was well worth the price. There is next to nothing within walking distance of the dock at Puerto Limon, so if you don't take an excursion, you miss out on this fantastic country.

The tram itself is quite impressive, but the real treat was our guide, who was very well educated, interesting, fun, and had a real passion for her country.  The driver was also great, he went out of his way on the drive back to the ship to pull over at the side of the highway to buy bananas for everyone from a road-side vendor.  Bananas which ripen on the tree rather than in a box taste so much better.

One thing to remember is that this is the rainforest - count on it raining during this excursion.  I'd say about half of the folks (myself and my wife included) didn't have a rainjacket, and were forced to pony up $10 for a poncho at the entrance to the tram.

I've heard people complain that Costa Rica was a wasted stop, and I shake my head.  Because of this excursion, it was easily the highlight of the trip.
