Coral P 2/1 - Tour Info Needed

Going for the first time to the PC and would like some advice on booking tours independent of the ship. Usually this saves 50-60%pp and allows you to do more. Have done this on every cruise I've been on so far. Earlier this year we did a 7 hr cat trip on a 70'er for $100pp versus $80pp for 3 hrs with the ship...that's what I'm talking about.

Never having been to the Costa Rica or the PC, I need some advise on what to do. We're a group of 8, 2 of which are seniors who can't walk for long stretches.

Also looking for ideas for the other stops in Cayman Is, Nassau, Ocho Rios, Cozumel...things out of the ordinary.
Thanks!

Hi: I am also going to be on Coral Princess 2/1/04 and we would like to invite your group if you wish for our sail-away get-together. We are on the Cruise Critic board and we have not finalized our time and place but we will do it when it gets closer to the date. I will let yiu know if you would like to join us. As for excursions we have always taken the ship excursions, for example when we get to the Panama Canal we are taking the Ocean to Ocean ship tour of the canals. For Costa Rica my hubby and I are taking the Torguero Canal trip. As for Cozumel and Grand Cayman we are taking no scheduled excursions. Our ship stops in Nassau ; you had mnentioned Ocho Rios but on the cruize personalizer it says Nassau.

If you wish to join us let us know and we can than remind you.

Hi Karen:
This might be cutting it a little close, since you are going on 2/1, but here are the names of 2 independent guides that we used during our Coral P. trip back in Nov'03.

Costa Rica- Limon
His name is Carlos, and he came highly recommended on another cruise website. He speaks English very well, and gave us an EXCELLENT tour (8:30 am - 4:15pm)! Make sure you do the river tour - that was the highlight of the tour (but bring sunscreen approx. 3 hours long!) Now I know animals have minds of there own, and we probably hit the river just right, but here are the animals we saw on the river cruise - ready?-
bats, hummingbirds, crocodiles, camen, monkies, BIG iguanas, and dozens of different birds. But the best part was we came upon a sloth that was coming out of a tree to get a drink of water from the river. The boat pulled right up to the sloth, we were so close, that we could have touched it if we would have wanted to!! Pretty neat!

Anyways, getting back to Carlos' tour, he will plan the day according to what you want to do, but take his reccommondations, he is a local! We even had lunch at a local restaurant. Don't worry nobody got sick, Carlos ate too. His e-mail is
encantados@racsa.co.cr.

Jamaica-Ocho Rios
In Ocho Rios we took a tour with Pete Taylor - That was EXCELLENT also! He is one of the best guides in Jamaica, so he is very busy! Pete is a real nice guy, and very knowledgable. Got a Christmas email from him! Pete's tour includes admission to Dunn's Falls. Climbing the falls is a must! - GREAT FUN! For persons who can't climb the falls, the scenery is beautiful, and it is just as much fun watching the climbers as it is doing it yourself. My mother didn't climb, but she still had a great time at the falls. Pete's email is onieltay@hotmail.com.

Both have reliable buses (w/ AC) that will hold ten people. Explain any special needs that your group may have, and I'm sure both Pete & Carlos will make every accommodation. Both pick you up right at the ship. Also, both are very quick in their e-mail responses. Tell them that Susan from Tampa says Hello! A little long, but hope it helps!

Thanks for the reply. Booking our own tour in Costa Rica for the rain forest through a local tour operator. It's half of what the ship charges for the same tour.. Also reseraching local Panama tours for the ocean to ocean, but may book with the ship.

We've also booked a sailboat in the Caymen Islands. If you're interested come with us to reduce the cost even more. We're 9 in our group and the boat is only $400 for 4-5 hours...not bad.

Would love to hook up on board. Thanks!
