We will be behind you on the Island. Going 8/27 Vancouver to Whittier. Can't wait as this is our first trip to Alaska. Trying to decide on hotels, transportation to and from port and slightseeing options at Talkeetna. Lots to consider and I also feel like we will be on the show "Amazing Race" with all the segments to our trip!!! LOL!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the welcome. It doesn't seem that there is too much traffic on either board for this cruise, yet it looks like it will be sold out. The prices sure have not come down at all and the cabin selection seems to be limited accoring to a few of the on line travel agents. We booked back in July. Now I'm really impatient for August to get here.

Have a good evening everyone,
Fran

6 months from today till I am leaving for the land part of my cruise!!!!! I too thought it was strange that most of the balcony cabins are sold out so early. Only a few and some suites remain available.

This is the first cruise out of my last 4 where the price did not go down after booking. I am still glad I booked early though with everything selling so fast. In fact our land tour is sold out too.

I have all the posts going to my email from this thread. I wish that feature would work on CC but I do have that one bookmarked. I will try to post over there more often.

Hi John,
We're going on the Coral 7/2/05 southbound...doing a cruisetour beginning 6/26. Let me know if you have specific questions and I'll do what I can to try and answer after we come back!

Hi Everyone!

It's hard to believe that in slightly over 4 months we will be headed out to the Great White North!

On one of the other boards posts I read that they are expecting an unusually warm summer again this year. Packing was going to be hard enough, that would really make it interesting.

We have decided on 3 main excursions while we are in port: The White Pass RR and Excursion (through Princess) while in Skagway, Capt. Larry's whale watch in Juneau, and charter fishing in Ketchikan. We still haven't decided what to do for any extra excursions while on the land tour, but I see that you can download the 2005 Optional Excursions brochure (they are for the land tour portion), from the Princess web site. Has anyone else made any decisions yet?

Is it true that we will probably not be able to upgrade to the Tundra Tour (from the Natural History Tour) at Denali? I read somewhere that there were no upgrades available du to the limits placed on the cruiseline throught he National Park Service.

Have a wonderful week,
Fran

Fran when you booked, was the Tundra tour part of your booking or did you book when it became the history tour? Just a suggestion, I would look into now if you are interested in the Tundra tour. When we get there it might be too late.

I pretty much have our tours under control. Doing them with the ship as well. Skagway is the 4x4 and bike tour. Juneau tram and Mendenhall glacier and Ketichan the go kart one.

Doing the tram and Mendenhall Glacier, the bald eagle preserve boat trip and undecided for anything else. Will be deciding soon.

Hi Everyone,

We got our "Courtesy Reminder" for final payment yesterday from our TA. We are bracing ourselves for the "big payout". It will sure make our bank account look a lot smaller. LOL.

It will be interesting to see if any of the tour operators tack on a fuel surcharge. I have noticed on a couple of independent tour operators web sites that they are doing this but haven't heard anything about any of the tours we have booked.

Thanks for the advise Suer, I'll look into upgrading now. The Natural History Tour was the origional tour on our itinerary. We are scheduled to go on the 3:00 PM tour. I'm trying to find out what time we will actually get to Denali Lodge. It may be too late in the day to do the Tundra Tour which would make upgrading a moot issue. Oh well, sine we have never been to Alaska, everyting will be new and exciting for us, no matter what we do.

Have a great day!

I received mine too yesterday. At least we will all be broke together :lol.

Good point about the surcharge. I booked all my tours through Princess.

Check your personalizer on the Princess websight. It should state the time you arrive in Denali. https://book.princess.com/cruisepersonalizer/login.page You will need your booking number. Hopefully we can connect there and say hello. I agree with you about everything will be new and exciting, regardless of what we do.

Hi Everyone,

It looks like we get to Denali at about 1:00 Pm and then on to the Natural History tour at 4:00. It would be great to match faces with names. It's too bad Princess doesn't do a "Meet and Greet" like Celebrity does through the other board. When we went to South America there were over 50 of us who attended.

Everyone in our group has fineally made their final payment. Now it's decide how and what to packand wait (I don't know which will be harder for me to do).

Have a great day everyone!
