Coral Princess Observasions!!!

As I doubt I will get around to a formal review I thought I would jot down a few observasions from Our recent cruise on the Coral.

The Good!!!

Gr8 Entertainment (Billy Vader, Greg Bonham, Willie Tyler & Lester, and Gr8 Production Shows)

Excellent Service as it seeemed like the Staff was going out of their way at every opportunity .

Food was VERY Good and well presented every night and the offerings at the Horizon Court and Outside Grill and Pizza hit the spot. The Specialty Restuarants are well worth trying if U get a chance.

Activites were VERY abundant and it always seemed like there was NEVER enough time to do everything.

The designation of the Lotus Pool (Covered Pool) as an Adult Only Pool was a BIG Plus and privided a nice relaxing atmosphere.

The Bad!!!

There seemed to be a VERY distinct odor at times around the ship and at times in the hallways and rooms of a backed up sewer for some reason which hopefully they will correct quickly.

The temperture regulation around the ship seemed to be slightly lacking IMO as some public areas seemed quite warm and even some cabins were on the warm side. Then again temperature is a personal preference and I do tend to like it a bit on the cooler side. :grin

Because of the itinerary the nightlife was a bit lacking but considering the age group was a bit older thats not a BIG surprise.

This one is just my own opinion so take it for what it is worth. IMO I believe the aft areas of this ship could of been designed far better. The Grand Class Ships really utilize the aft areas well for the pool area and disco. The aft pool area on the Coral was quiet but it always seemed like u were cramped for space and the views were minimized significantly with the design used as compared to the Aft pool areas on the Grand Class Ships. I know the Coral and Island are narrower that the Grand Class ships but I still think they could of better utilized that section of the ship with a BETTER layout.

Well thats all I can think of off the top of my head but it is late so if I remember anything else I will add it on later.

Welcome Home !

I agree with you about the nightlife, it was the same when I was on the Coral Princess over Thanksgiving and on the Island Princess over Christmas. I think that if they had a separate 'disco' type venue, like the Sun Class ships, it would be better, converting the Explorers from a live band to the 'disco' at midnight just doesn't work.

E, we had friends who just returned from the Sun Princess and had two of the same problems you posted. They said they noticed strong sewage odor and the A/C seemed to be on the warm side.

Hope they get the odors and temperature straightened out. My DH likes it really cold in public rooms or he falls asleep! I have a few questions for you Einstein, or anyone else that can help:

So formal nights are on the second day out (sea day) and Grand Cayman right?

Did they offer you the bag of laundry cleaned for $15?

Did you notice how many kids were onboard?

We have a group of about 20 people meeting on Deck 16 by the Splash Pool for sailaway. Is that a good location? We figured they could get their drinks by the pool bar and come up one deck to wave goodbye.

Thanks! :thumb :wave

Lady Jag .......

Right on with the formal night. :thumb They had laundry service but it was charged by the item and NOT the bag. :( YES there were a reasonable # of kids onboard for our sailing and ALL except a handful that wanted to monopolize the adult pool area at night were VERY Well behaved. Oh U might already know this but the Lotus Pool (Covered Pool) is an Adult ONLY Pool.

I agree wholeheartedly with U CA on the disco thing as Explorer's just did NOT cut it for that setting. :thumb

A lot of people have been talking about an offer they have half way through the cruise to launder everything you can stuff into a bag for $15. It sounded good to me! =huh

Didn't know that until reading your initial post about the Lotus Pool, but it makes sense. Same with RCI's Radiance Class ships.

I hope this cruise is better than our last Princess experience. Kinda having last minute worries here. I am anxious to read reviews, so please get busy!! :grin :wave

U will have a Gr8 time Lady Jag so stop worrying. She is a REALLY nice ship and IMO the service and Staff were EXCELLENT and made the cruise. Make sure U try the Bayou if U get a chance as it is worth the $10 IMO.

Planning on a trip to the Bayou Cafe one night for dinner, thanks for letting me know it's worth it.

Good service is our #1 priority with weather being #2. At least it sounds like we can count on #1! :) Looking forward to reading the review! :)

Weather was Gr8 for Our sailing Lady Jag but the previous sailing before Ours had some pretty roughs seas as was mentioned by Capt MANY times during the cruise. So we will cross our fingers that Mother Nature looks over U. :angel

Lady Jag,
When we were on the Grand last May they did the laundry offer half way through the cruise. It was all the laundry you could stuff in the paper bag for $15.00 You have to be careful not to rip the bag :lol I thought it was something they were doing on all there ships, but I guess not =confuse

I agree with most of E's observations as well, except I would avoid the hamburgers from the outside Grill on the upper deck - they were just plain awful. We didn't make use of the Specialty restaurants, especially after talking to a few couples on board who were very disappointed with the experiences they had. There was no $15/bag laundry offer when we cruised the Coral at the end of January.

Didn't do the speciality restaurants on the Coral Princess, but did several weeks later on the Island and the Bayou (went 2 times) was outstanding as was Sabitinis.

We did have the Princess Platinum Luncheon in Satinis at lunch the one day, it was spectacular....
