Coral Princess on the news

Tonight on the NBC news here in San Francisco, the Coral Princess left here today for Vancouver continuing its repositioning to Vancouver. Shortly after leaving the Golden Gate, passengers said they felt a large vibration, and saw off the side of the ship a whale swimming in a circular motion in a pool of blood. On the news they had a guy on the phone from the ship, recounting the activity, and said that "alot of resources on the ship have gone into denying hitting anything". As we know cruise lines ALWAYS put alot of resources into denying anything other that fun times. I guess we will have to see until Saturday when the ship arrives into Vancouver if anyother information will be givin. The coast gurad did say that a whale had been hit off the coast, but no other information was givin. I am just giving information of what I saw on KNTV out of the bay area tonight.

It is a shame but with more and more ship traffic it is bound to happen. The whales are such beautiful animals to watch swim its sad to have another one gone.

I guess we may find out firsthand, as we board the Coral tomorrow, Saturday, for an 8 day Alaskan cruise! It's a shame we couldn't board yesterday, as we live only 30 minutes from San Francisco!!!

Could Princess get into some legal trouble over this? I mean, why would they deny hitting the whale? If an accident.

Anytime any cruise ship hits a whale it is an accident.
They are not in the business of hunting down and running over whales.......

Plus considering that a whale is far more maneuverable than a cruise ship at those speeds it is no more than an unfortunate accident no matter how much special interest groups want to blame the cruise industry.

:thumb..boB..of course that is pure common sense...but what difference does that make????..some overzealous people will make a huge hue and cry over an unfortunate accident..:daisy..Joanne

Over on the Cruise Critic board, there's a couple of posts about it. I guess one person said that it was a shark feeding on a seal.
