Coral Princess or Summit?

I asked on the Celebrity section and haven't received any responses yet. Am traveling to Alaska and want to know which one you would choose with children - ages 12 & 5. Maybe this is a no-brainer and I'm just not getting it, LOL. Wouldn't be the first time. Thanks so much.

I love Celebrity and Princess. But my last Alaska cruise (been there 3 times) I sailed on the Radiance. It was just great for kids. They had lots to do and the selection of restaurants for kids was good. They have rock climbing, a water slide, and a great kids area. Just thought you might want to check it.

Thanks Frank,

Radiance was my first choice until we decided to do a one way - great minds must think alike, LOL. Seriously, we got a super deal on Summit and DH and I love Celebrity, but, my kids love to swim and I'm worried about the open pool area on Summit since they're not allowed in the indoor pool. Hubby says they can tough it out in the outdoor pool - I hesitate about that one.

Thanks again, posters on this board are just super about answering questions!

The Summit is a great ship. I was on the Millennium and you will love it. You are right about the outside swimming pools and Alaska. You never know what the weather will be like. I am sure you will have a great time. Be sure to take your kids on the train ride in Skagway. Also, it's costly, but your 12 year old will love the helicopter landing on the glacier.

Tough call, but Pricess has a great program for kids of all ages, and they really know how to do Alaska. As far as I'm concerned, I'd even take a rubber life raft if it was headed for Alaska! Great place!

Thanks Frank & Jacquie,

I switched ships today to Coral Princess and am VERY excited! I, too, love Celebrity, but I just didn't think it would be best for all of us as a family. It will be our first time on Princess so we're really looking forward to it. Thanks so much for your opinions and advice! Jane.

I just posted a review in the review section here on our Panama Canal cruise on Coral Princess (feb 2-12) You will love the ship. It's beautiful and there are lots of things to do onboard as well.

We've been on the Celebrity Infinity (sister ship to the Summit). Beautiful ship, but not for kids. Princess program for kids and teens is more extensive.

I've made reservations on Princess, thanks to all of your helpful comments. I especially liked BP's. If it were just me and DH - it would be Summit - but I just think the kids will enjoy Princess better. That translates into DH and me enjoying the trip better, too. Thanks again!
