Coral World & St Thomas shopping

Hi! This will be my first cruise, so I hope someone can help me with these questions. My friend and I are thinking of going to Coral World, on St.Thomas, on our own. Has anyone been there and is it worth seeing? Its website looks wonderful, but you never know.
Also, I've read alot about shopping on St.Thomas, but I'm looking for fabric and that's never mentioned. My mother is a quilter and I'm just beginning to learn. I'd like to find special fabrics, maybe batiked or hand-dyed, that I can bring back and share with my mother. I'd like to create a quilt of my own as a special souvenir of my cruise.
Thanks in advance for any help with these questions!

When we went to St. Thomas, we went over to St. John, which is a very beautiful island, more beautiful than St. Thomas in my opinion. As to the stores - I really don't recall any fabric, they were mostly jewelry stores and the usual souvenirs like t-shirts, mugs, etc. Also save some time to take the gondolas up to Paradise Point.

Hi Morchella: I have not been to Coral World yet, but have already planned to go there on our June 13th cruise. We will also be going to the Coki beach right next door for our beach day. I've heard lots of great things about this place and have heard that their SeaTrek is awesome!!! I'm not going to be able to do this though, since we'll have our 4 year old with us. But you might want to look into this. Also, I'm the coupon queen (lol) and have found coupons for Coral World at www.coralworldvi.com. You'll save $3.00 on each adults admission, plus I've heard if you tell them you are a "cruise guest", they'll give you a discount as well. I'm not sure if they'll combine the two, but you can try (I'm going to). Have a great time on your trip and make sure to do that gondola or tram ride up to Paradise Point (they have drink coupons on their website too).)

St. Thomas has linen tablecloths. I think the place for batik and hand died fabric is Caribelle Batik in St. Lucia.

We went to Coral World and Coki Beach in April, it is a beautiful beach, but I think I would take a taxi there on our own next time. There are alot of people working at Coral World but it's a self guided tour the only time anyone there talked to us was when they fed the baby sharks. I wish we had seen Magens Bay everyone talked about how beautiful it was and from the pictures I've seen, next time we will go there. Also, Pearl Island is a great place ;as well.

We went to Coral World in April and loved every minute of it. We took the RCI tour from the Explorer. They gave us a total of one hour and fifteen minutes there, and we could have spent about twice that. Then our bus driver, AKA suicide jockey, took us on a tour of the island. Twisty, windy 2 lanes roads up the mountain. When we passed speed limit signs that said 10 mph, he actually slowed down to 40! Then he dropped us off in town to shop, and we caught a taxi back to the ship for 3.00 pp. All in all, we had a great time.
