I've been to the Chaccoben ruins with a tour guide by the name of Ivan. I believe this was in 2006...we went to three different sights and had a wonderful day. We met Ivan in Mahahual and then went to the ruins in a nice a/c van.

I've now been to Tulum, Lamanai (Belize) and Chaccobean...so far, Chaccobean wins. Belize in a very close 2nd.

Costa Maya in itself is just a man-made port, that I think RCL built in order to have a place to dock on that side of Mexico.
