I avoid the "shopping mecca" at Costa Maya. The pool is usually crowded because the coastline at Costa Maya proper is rocky and no good for swimming. With a little too much tequila I have seen some pretty rowdy times there.I agree with taking a Taxi to Mahahual. The beach is nice and the three times I have been there the water was crystal clear.Enjoy :spyglass:
