Cozumel Beach!

Just returned from the Carnival Paradise, Exotic Western Caribb, and wanted to share a beach I hadn't heard of before.

We took a cab--telling the driver we wanted to go snorkel and have a beer. He took us to Corona Beech. The fare was $12.00 one way. It's just South of Chaknaab, and has no entrance fee.

This place is great. Very small, maybe 10 other people there all together. There's a small bar (they DON'T SELL CORONA BEER!!), with good beer and cheap food.

The snorkeling isn't perfect, but the current is calm, and there are a lot of coral formations and interesting fish to the right hand side of the snorkel area. We snorkeled for a couple of hours, then had a few beers, some chips and FRESH salsa, and watched the sun go down. This was our favorite part of the trip. Very relaxing, and no crowds....just thought I'd share!

Hi,

Thank you for the tip!<BG> I will certainly keep that in mind for our upcoming cruise as I was looking for a inexpensive, small unheard of beach to go to that doesn't have huge waves. Can you tell me if the beach was rocky or did have sand?

Thanks,

Hi,

The restaurant area is on the sand, but there are stone steps for the entrance to the water. This place is great...no crowds at all, very quaint, and the current is very calm.

In fact, while in port that day, there were several warnings about the stength of the currents in Cozumel...but Corona Beach is protected because it's in a small cove, and the water is shallow enough that the coral formations really calm the water. My wife gets tired very easily when snorkeling, and she did very well here.

Hope this helps...we're definitely going back here next time we're in Coz.

Sounds great, we'll try it in December. Can you rent snorkeling equipment there?

Yes, you can rent equipment there....it has a little dive shop. But you can also rent equipment on the ship, which I would personally prefer.

There are three or four cabs parked outside at all times ready to take you back to the ship. If there isn't one, the dive shop attendant will call one for you.

How much does it cost for snorkeling equipment on the ship? That sounds like a good idea, that way I don't have to worry about renting it everywhere I go.
