Cozumel & Cayman Island Ports

Cruising first time to Cozumel and Cayman Islands for 5 days out of Tampa on Carnival Inspiration early December.
Couple of questions - not sure how to confirm which ports the ship arrives at for these two locations - but if someone else knows please let me know if you can walk off the ship or you have to take a tender.

Secondly, how fancy is formal! My husband and I can dress up and look good but a little concerned when I hear tuxedos and gowns??

For those who cruise, how often do you see sea sick people aboard, I have been sick each and every time I've been on a boat, weather it be take a ride out to a reef to snorkel, glass bottom boat ride, waiting my turn to parasail etc etc....Am I doomed?

Please share as much info as you would like to share.

If you take me serious, it's your problem
Not sure but i think the cayman island port is grand cayman. having not sailed to grand cayman before i don't have any info for you. And the cozumel port is in the city of san marcos i believe. there is plenty to do there mostly shopping. when i arrived in cozumel i went straight to the car rental kiosks and shopped for the best price for a one day rental. I then drove the whole island. everything out of San Marcos is pretty easy to get to since the is only one major highway surrounding the island. the roads are still in bad shape after hurricane Dean.. so definitely drive with caution on the eastern side of the island(i almost put the car in a massive hole in the road as the surf had eaten away at the roadway and hazards are for the most part not marked...

Oh yeah , i looked it up and the port in Grand Cayman is Georgetown i believe....

Welcome to our Community. Cozumel and Cayman Islands are very nice islands, been to both. Your cruise itinerary should give you the approximate time of arrival.

We always dress for formal night (love it ) however a suit and cocktail dress will be OK Some cruisers decide not to dress up and not go to the dining room on formal night - They eat at the buffet. It is your cruise and your choice.

I have never been sea sick on a cruise, the ships are pretty stabilize however I see alot of folks wearing patches and they are not sick.

Have a great cruise

You will dock in Cozumel and tender in Grand Cayman.

You do not need tuxedos and gowns. Here is Carnival's dress code from Carnival's website ...

Casual attire is the order of the day. We suggest shorts, sundresses, tank tops, etc. for the ladies, and for men; shorts, polo shirts, T-shirts, etc. will do. We suggest you wear rubber-soled, low heeled or flat shoes for extra traction while onboard. The use of any footwear with wheels, including but not limited, to Heelys© shoes, is prohibited on board our ships. For dining you may want to dress up a bit and/or bring along a light sports jacket or cardigan.

Most evenings we have a Cruise Casual dress code, but there are those Cruise Elegant evenings one or two nights throughout your “Fun Ship†voyage, where you will have the opportunity to showcase your more elegant attire. For those who want casual attire for dinner time, the Lido Restaurant is open nightly, and has a more relaxed theme. However, shirts and shoes/footwear (flip-flops) must be worn at all times inside the Lido Restaurant.

Both dress codes for the dining rooms are described below.

Cruise Casual Dining Dress Code: Gentlemen - Sport slacks, khakis, jeans (no cut-offs), dress shorts (long), collared sport shirts; Ladies - Casual dresses, casual skirts or pants and blouses, summer dresses, Capri pants, dress shorts, jeans (no cut-offs).

Not permitted in the dining room during the Cruise Casual dinner for ladies and gentlemen: shorts, gym shorts, basketball shorts, beach flip-flops, bathing suit attire, cut-off jeans, sleeveless shirts for men and baseball hats.

Cruise Elegant Dining Dress Code: Gentlemen - Dress slacks, dress shirts. We also suggest a sport coat. If you wish to wear suits and ties or tuxedos, by all means we invite you to do so. Ladies - Cocktail dresses, pantsuits, elegant skirts and blouses; if you‘d like to show off your evening gowns, that's great too!

Not permitted in the dining room during the Cruise Elegant dinner for ladies and gentlemen: shorts, gym shorts, T-shirts, beach flip-flops, bathing suit attire, jeans, cut-off jeans, sleeveless shirts for men, sportswear, and baseball hats.

I get sea sick easily, yet I have never gotten sea sick on a cruise ship (14 cruises). The ships are big and don't move that much. Still, I would suggest taking along some ginger. It has helped me. There are three reasons I like it ...

1) It is not a drug.
2) It is the only thing that worked on Mythbusters.
3) It will still work after you start to feel sick.

My I suggest in Grand Cayman you do the StingRay Tour - either book through the ship or at the dock once you tender into port. It is a must if you have never been before. I love Grand Cayman.

Ahoy Karen and welcome @board Cruise @ddicts.

As stated before, tender in Grand Cayman and Dock in Cozumel. There are three cruise piers in Cozumel. One is right downtown and the other two are further out, about $5 in a taxi to town.

Don't miss the free samples of rum and rum cakes at the Tortuga rum store across from the Tender Dock in Grand Caymen. I agree with Donna about doing Stingray City. Don't miss it.

Snorkeling is fantastic in Cozumel.

Cruiser is right about ginger for seasickness. Candied ginger or ginger tablets which can be found at a health food store.

Personally I love formal nights. I own my own tux. I have never worn on dry land but wear it on every cruise. Beach bum by day, James Bond by night

I enjoy the formal nights but I don't wear a tux. Nice suit and my wife in a nice dress. Love the pictures that they take on that night. I second the Sting Ray City motion. Went last year, excuse me this year, and loved it. Going again in April. We didn't get to Cozumel because of the swine flu.
