I am going to Cozumel and costa maya March 18th. I haven't heard as much as I would have liked on the conditions of things to due after the hurriance. I was thinking about going to the National Park and hanging out on the beach. I'll try to spell it. Chankanaab? Does anyone know if this park is in good shape as far as the beach goes and if it is worth going there?

We want to go to a great beach/snorkling location. Any ideas. Booking from the ship is so expensive. Any idea how to accomplish this without spending a fortune and still have a great time?

Cathy, last I heard, the park is still closed. We used cozumel cruise excursions for our snorkel/SNUBA tour and we were very happy.

Have a great cruise!

Many thanks. Can you tell where to find them? How much was the tour package and how long did it last? Just want to be ready when i get there.

Just got back from Costa Maya & Cozumel aboard Grandeur. The docks in Cozumel are gone so the ships drop anchor off the coast and tender people ashore. Lots of damage is still very evident - toppled buildings and all the trees look as though they have been cut in half and have no leaves on them. Carlos and Charlies is back up and running. Drove past the national park on our way to Playa Mia (the beach excursion) and though my memory is vague, I think it is still closed.

Costa Maya was great. Went to the beach in Uvero...very nice.

Yep that place got slapped hard. We still made the best of it and hung out by the cabs and found this real cool guy with a new van so we asked him what it would cost to go joy riding for a couple of hours. Had the best time, he carried on like a tour guide. What was great we went to all the local spots where the prices were soooo much cheaper, heck with those tourist traps (I live in one myself) get with a local and pay him to show you a good time. Don't forget to make sure he's included, if he's taking you to the best place to eat and making sure the place dosen't over charge you, buy him lunch too!
