Cozumel Ideas

We've been to almost all the beaches, stopped at everyone on the western side and eastern side. I know many of you take cabs and enjoy that idea because of the time constraint. I just wanted to mention an idea that may appeal to others. After stopping there a handful of times we have continued our tradition of renting motor scooters for the day. It's thirty dollars and you reach speeds of up to 50mph (45 if 2 people). This allows you to get up and go and just keep moving along the island. I would not recommend this if you are heading to the eastern side, because time does not permit you to travel there and back on the scooter. However, take a trip when you're done shopping and drinking. Rent a scooter and just go to the southern tip where the beaches turn to rock. The waves are absolutely stunning. It's serene and the most uninhabited part of the island. It's beautiful to lay down a towel and sit out on the rocks with a loved one and just listen to the ocean talk. I know you go to cozumel to party and swim with dolphins. But if you are looking for something different and want to spend about two hours doing something irregular, then this is great. You can stop along the way and see the other beaches and shops, while you make your way down, then trek back up and repeat your stops. To me this is relaxing and keeps me away from the cruising crowds. I love the people I cruise with, don't mistake me, but I like to escape when im off the ship. Again, give it a try if you are looking for something different and plan on blocking out two hours. Happy Cruising ! Other ideas and Cozumel tips are helpful and wanted. I enjoy hearing about what others like to do.

Pardon me, but Doesn't drinking and then renting a scooter seem like a BAD idea?

That's what I was thinking...

Also, scooters really don't sound safe to me?

Yes, you both are absolutely right, drinking and then driving is not a wise idea. I wasn't exactly encouraging those to hurry to the rentals after getting smashed. Not everyone crawls out of the bars, some only have a few and maybe still capable of placing one foot in front of the other. I'm not much of a fan for the infamous Carlos 'n Charlies in cozumel, for personla reasons. Because of this I typically have only one drink and then walk around for a while. So more or less I was using the term "drinking" loosely to describe visiting carlos 'n charlies and those that may have one or two drinks.

Scooters are dangerous without a doubt...not too much more risk involved than placing your life in a foreigner's hands after you close that cab door? If you are familiar with motorcycles and have been around them then I guess it's not something you concern yourself with. However, I feel less comfortable sitting in a mexican cab with no possibility to control what may happen. There's risk involved with all of the activities you take part in, especially mexico and the caribbean. It's simply what you prefer to do. We are young and fairly adventurous, so it is in our nature to do these things. Just was mentioning some of the other alternatives of enjoyment--if feeling "adventurous."

Sounds like a wonderful idea to me. I read where another couple did a simular experience. I would love to experience the serein calming of the ocean..Letting the ocean talk to you..sounds very soothing to me. Thanks for the advice I will keep it in mind.
