Credit Card Pre authorization Conquest

Anyone know how much available for preauthorization, on your credit card, you have to have for the sign and sail card per person on a 7 night cruise? Is it different for kids? This is for Carnival Conquest. We have 2 adults and 5 kids/teens.

For just a couple of adults it is usually $400 not sure how much for kids. If you wish you can put down cash on the accounts for the kids instead of a charge card, that way you will be notified if the charges have met the amount you put down and they would ask for more money to continue to use that particular account.

My wife and I always put down cash. easier to keep track of. When we have used our credit card they start with 400 and when that is done they just keep going. Just like a store.
