Crown Princess and Princess in general

Hello all,

Thinking about booking the Crown Princess Sept 6 from NY. Cruised on Celebrity (Galaxy) and Carnival twice (Miracle and Legend). Never did Princess. Did some searching but wanted to get some more views.

What do I need to know about Princess different from Carnival and Celebrity?
Would I be considered a past guest by using my Carnival past guest # since they are an affiliate of Carnival? If so, what percs does Princess offer? (upgrades, Shipboard credit, etc)?

Any info regarding Princess would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

I've not sailed Carnival or Celebrity but if you were happy with them I'm sure you'll find Princess to your likeing.

As to past passenger status with Princess you will be entitled to any special past passenger rates that might be offered (there are usually way better rates available) but your cruises with Carnival will not get you any of the Princess Past Passenger perks (such as they are!)

We've sailed both Carnival, and Celebrity. Princess also. This is JMHO, of course. On most ratings scales I'd put Princess right in the middle between Celebrity and Carnival. Ie: service level, entertainment quality.

But as for attractiveness of ships and cabins, I like Princess much better than Carnival, and a bit better than Celebrity. Celebrity's ships are rather subdued, while Carnivals are gaudy, and overly decorated. Princess is closer to Celebrity than it is to Carnival's style.

Food wise, if you liked both Celebrity and Carnival, you should be happy with Princess. Celebrity's food being higher end, as to taste and presentation.

Over all I've found there were more different entertainment venues open during the evenings, on our Carnival cruises, than the other two lines. Not a big difference, unless you like to stay up very late.

Never sailed Celebrity but are Carnival junkies and sailed Royal Car. once.
Tried Princess this past February--to get a taste of anytime dining. Wanted to see if being tied to a dining time is really all that important to us.

We loved everything about each cruise BUT the Caribbean Princess wow-ed us from the moment we walked on til the moment we walked off.

We only made it to the dining room once as the caribe cafe was the best buffet we ever ate at. the only difference between the dining room and the buffet was we waited on ourselves for food. There are waiters getting water and taking drink requests. There were musicians strolling aroundp laying music depending on the theme for the evening- china plates instead of plastic. table clothes on the tables. The best-- was the seafood at the buffet. Crab legs the first night and shrimp every night after that-- not the itty bitty ones carnival offers.

I also liked that Princess gave me three show times to see a show each evening and if something else was conflicting-- i had another time to go.

You wont ever know if you like it if you dont try it.
