Crown Princess: negative postings

For weeks prior to sailing on the Crown late September, we read complaint after complaint about this ship. Ranging from poor food, awful entertainment to bad crew atitude. It got so that I was actually worried if we picked the wrong ship! we are thankful that we ignored all the gripes and enjoyed the most wonderful cruise experience possible. We were amazed at the level of service throught the entire ship from room stewards to waiters in the dining room. All, without exception, were ALWAYS pleasant. The ship is clean, modern & comfortable. Try as we might, we could not find one negative aspect to our sailing, and we have already booked the Crown for its TransAtlantic crossing this spring. I can't help but wonder what kind of life these complainers must have!

So glad to see you had a great experience. I'll be sailing tomorrow (sat) for my 19th cruise but my first on Princess. I never had a bad cruise, some were more fun than others but, hey I'm sailing Can't beat that...

It is all perception!

I got home from the Dawn Princess, Mexican Riviera this past Sunday. It was a very age mixed crowd, but I'd say leaned towards the older crowd.

I was in the disco the last evening, which on any ship doesn't usually tend to be very crowded. A gentleman was next to me and we started to chat. He started a tirade of incredible complaining, so much so, that I wondered if we had been on the same ship.

1) he complained that there was no activity in the disco. Now this night, I'd say there were about 40 people there. Most other nights it was packed (but this was the first night he'd been there). I told him that I'd been there every evening and had had a wonderful time, people were jovial and dancing.

2) complained that there were no activities up on deck, he and his wife and laid up on deck all day everyday and nothing went on. I mentioned to him that I'd been up there to watch the pool games on at least 3 days and he started to argue that no such games happened and I was as much as lying (guess about 500 other people were hallucinating about the games too).

3) no music up on deck, to which I countered that there was a band. he said that they didn't play long enough!

4) you had to pay for ice cream, to which I countered that it was available in the buffet in the afternoons (course, I didn't know what I was talking about).

He told me that I must be a boring person if I thought Princess was a good product! Guess I'll be boring!

Some people can't ever be happy

:wave...in any cruise experience I have found NOTHING will make some folks happy... I mean you could have strippers dancing buck starkers, unlimited drinks, and free goodies in every boutique, and they would still be moaning and pi$$ing and whining, and of course that's not even going to be a chance of happening on these ships.. in which case.. my best advice to these whiny grumpy *ss folks...go to an all-inclusive, and leave the ship to me!!..

=shrug..whatever..

Hope you continue to have wonderful Princess cruises!! ..:grin..Joanne

I agree! Some people just love to complain. I try to steer clear of complainers - won't even invite certain friends along whom I know will look for faults. We LOVED the Crown - so much so that we are repeating our last year's cruise (Dec 8th - 14 days) and even staying in the same room!

Crown is not my favorite ship, but we had great service on it, possibly the best waiter I have ever had. Our complaint was crowded show rooms.

It always amazes me how you can read reviews from people that have been on the same ship and they be so different! One person says its great and the other says its horrible! I believe some people are just born whinners and complainers, that is just the way it is!I for one have never been on a bad cruise, its better than being at work!(tu)
