We are going on the Crown Princess next July in northern europe. I was wondering about taking my own coke, water and burbon. We were on a Carnival ship in europe two years ago and it was no problem. Thanks Hutch

Generally on princess, you won't be charged for the coke and water, but for the burbon i think you will be charged a corkage fee. I think its something like 15 %.
I hope this helps

Hello Hutch,

The following is a cut and paste from the Princess official policy on alcohol:

Alcohol purchased at any port of call, including the port of embarkation, may not be consumed onboard. It will be collected at the gangway for safekeeping and delivered to your stateroom on the last day of your cruise, prior to your disembarkation. You may bring wine or champagne onboard to celebrate special occasions (limit: one bottle per person). If consumed in the dining rooms or alternative restaurants, each bottle will be subject to a $15 corkage fee*.

(Would burbon that be concidered a wine or just alcohol? =huh)

About the Cola, that is defintely a charged item, not free. Whether you can bring your own onboard, I couldn't find an official policy on that. The only mention of soft drinks I could find on the princess answer page, concerned the availablity of buying a soft drink package, prior to the cruise, apparantly as a gift to the cabin occupants, (like a TA would give to a customer, or you can buy for yourself.)

It wasn't such a great deal if you ask me, offering six sodas for the price of five $10.50. I could have sworn they offered a soft card, where you pay one price for unlimited soft drinks, but I could not find it mentioned. Perhaps some recent Princess cruiser will know more.

We have brought a 12 pack of soda and a 6 pack of bottled water on board with no problem. I have put it in my carry on twice and was never questioned. I have heard others put a luggage tag on it and it is delivered to their room but I have not tried this. The bourban is not allowed based on what I have read in the past. If you want to pack it away in your checked luggage it will most likely make it based on what others have posted.

Gayle, Bourbon is definitely not wine!! ::eek:

Hutch, Princess permits you to carry on wine (their literature states one bottle per person but I think you wouldn't have a problem carrying on a couple of bottles per person) for which they charge a corkage fee ($15.00 per bottle) if you take it to the dining room. You can also carry on your coke and your water. You are not supposed to carry on hard liquor and though many people do "smuggle" it aboard if you choose to do that know that there is always the possibility that it could be confiscated and held for you until the end of your cruise.

Soda cards are available and usually run about $4.50 per day which is within reason. They will give U a sticker on your card and U just show it to the bartender or waitstaff at the diningroom or Horizon Court and they will bring U a soda dispensed from their dispenser. It does NOT include canned soda however.

Water or soda can be brought on if U wish to tote your own. As the others have said the bourbon may make it thru but in some situations it could be confiscated and held til the end of the cruise. =shrug Enjoy planning for your cruise. :thumb
