Someone gave me the website in which you put what you want as far as a crusie (itinerary, departing from, etc) and different websites bid for your business. Does anyone know what that website is???

No it isn't Priceline. It is specific to cruises. For the life of me I can't remember the website.

www.cruisecompete.com

You have to know exactly what it is you want-- ex--an insoide cabin on such and such a ship on a certain date and for how many people. You will get mail over the course of a few days to the various agencies that will quote you a price for that cruise== that category.

I used cruisecompete to check the price that I got from my TA, but none of the quotes that I received could match what my local agent did for me. I guess that is the atvantage of using the same person for all of my cruises :grin

Thank you Serene56. That is it.. Cruisecompete......... We actually booked last July for this July but now my sister-in-law is looking into coming. I figured it can't hurt to try. We got a much better deal by booking that far in advance. When I price it now, it would be more than $1200.00 for the 4 of us.

I used skyauction . com for my last cruise, just be sure to add up all the extras, like a surcharge for the date you want to cruise. My bid was taken at 116.00 but the total amount for the 5 night cruise ended up at actually 400.00 per person. Still not a bad price!!! And we had a wonderful time!

Not really sure what the point of a cruise bidding service is. Most cruise lines do not allow altering the price of the quoted fare. The only time you can really offer a lower price than that is if the Travel Agency is holding a block of cabins as a group, then they can offer the group discount and/or rebate part of their commission back to the customer. So if you get differing price quotes for the same ship/date/room Category, then you need to be a little suspicious of why one is much lower. They may be violating policy of that cruise line. of course, what do you care as long as the cruise line honors the tickets.

mhutch-1200 for the four of you! Do you mean 1200 MORE for the four of you? Do your cruise prices ever go down booking that far in advance. Usually, the companies do not honor price drops!

Personaly, only one time out of my six cruises did I not fare as well by going through my TA. And that was because I booked only 3 ot 4 months for a cruise that ended on Thanksgiving (A HOLIDAY).

Take this year into account. I booked last June for this June and paid just about $2500 for a gty balcony cabin on the Conquest for 2 people. That includes the port charges and any taxes. Only the tips are NOT in there yet. No one on the website or carnival could do better. In fact, carnival is offering an 8A gty for 2400 before port charges and taxes.

My research also tells me that right now I am booked on the Lido deck--second year in a row and what I was hoping for.

I guess that I just happen to have an excellent TA.

We just booked our cruise by using cruisecompete.com....
We normally used bestpricecruises online however another company (thru cruisecompete) beat their price so we went with them. We got a balcony on Empress deck for the 3 of us for 2800.00 for March 2006 on the Glory. I don't do GTY's anymore after doing that a couple cruises back a few years back and ending up down at the back of the ship and our room vibrated the entire cruise! I pick my cabin now...midship Empress deck LOL

I thought that was pretty good considering every other agent and carnival wanted 3115 for that same cabin/same cruise! Even my cousin a travel agent couldn't beat their price! LOL

I think you are looking for CruiseCompete.com. My spouse and I used it and were very pleased with the result we got. Just be prepared to wait patiently a few days for the best bid to come in. You will need to settle on the cruise you want and be prepared to put in the cruise line, date of departure, etc. Good luck.
