Cruise to Alaska.....

I have been looking at cruises to Alaska. Princess offers two 7 day cruises. One is called Voyage of the Glaciers Cruise, the other is Inside Passage Cruise. My husband and I are interested in seeing all the natural beauty and wildlife that Alaska offers. I assume the excursions offered on both cruises is similar, but I wanted opinions as to which cruise would be best to take. Also, which side of the ship would be best to be on (we'd have to have a balcony for this cruise) and how do I know for sure we're booked on the correct side for the best view during the cruise? Which is the best port to embark from? Thanks for giving my some much needed advice!

Deborah if you are planning on booking with Princess now is the time. I just booked a 7day from leaving and returning from Seattle. The rates for all categories were 2 for 1. Price was unbelieveable. I have not been to Alaska yet, but have been told the inside passage is wonderful and we love traveling with Princess. Good luck

We took the Coral Princess on the Inside Passage a few years ago. You might want to consider one of their cruise tours. This would give you even a better chance of seeing much more of the interior of Alaska. We had a balcony cabin on the port side. I thought our views were great. The balcony was nice. We had gone up on the main public balcony for awhile thinking the views would be more majestic. They were....but were also kind of cold! We went back to our cabin where we could go out and in as the weather (and our jackets) permitted.

They can be pricey but DO take excursions. Some folks would just get off and roam the shops. This seemed like just a cold version of roaming the same shops that are in the Caribbean! Get off on the glacier or on a helicopter or little bush plane. It is spectacular.

Deborah...take a good look at the itineraries. In my opinion you would be best served by taking an itinerary that will take you to Glacier Bay...spectacular.

If you are doing a round trip cruise from Seattle or Vancouver I don't think it really matters too much which side of the ship you are on...if you are doing one way then choose a starboard cabin if you are sailing north to south and a port side cabin if you are sailing south to north.

You will have a fabulous experience no matter which cruise you choose!
