I am taking my first Princess Cruise on 9/25/04. Previously sailed on RCL. I do not need transfer to ship but will need one from port to airport. Are cabs hard to come by or should I purchase transfer on the ship? Little concerned about all the negative reviews I have read. I sure hope this cruise will be as wonderful as all the previous ones have been. Thanks for any information.

Skip the transfer... Cabs are easy and plentiful, and the airport is only 10 minutes away. You'll be there ahead of the transfer buses so you'll beat the crowds at the airport.

Thanks for the info. We have a 11:15 flight back to Virginia and did not want to be delayed.

Make sure you tell the purser that you've got that 11:15 flight so they'll give you the luggage tags that get you off first, usually Red #1. 11:15 is definitely doable, but no time for dilly-dallying. We usually take an 11:50 flight out of there and have always made it with time to spare. Of course any kind of snafu like a late arrival or a customs delay will probably do you in, but it's usually pretty orderly at Port Everglades.

Hi Nancy,

I will also be on Caribbean Princess this date! Really excited, my first cruise with Princess as well, but I've been onboard many Princess ships as well as other lines... and let me tell you that the Grand Class ships are some of my favorites. I notice you say you're from VA... DC here, where about are you?

BTW, if you don't know already, it looks as if we are not going to be calling on Princess Cay, the island has been damaged quite a bit and we will most likely go to Nassau instead. I'm kind of disappointed because the private islands are one of my favorite parts, very relaxing..which Nassau is not.

Hi V:

Thanks for the information referencing Princess Cay. I did not know that the island had been damaged. I am disappointed as well. Nassau is my least favorite port and we probably will just stay on board.

Have you communicated with any others who are on our same cruise? I just discovered this website yesterday. It is very informative.

I live in Chesterfield County, just south of Richmond. My hustand travels to DC and Baltimore every week.

I am watching the weather channel -- sure hope the storm "brewing" behind Jeanne -- I think the name is Carl will not materialize.

Take care...

I know Nancy, I hope this new storm doesn't destroy our entire schedule. I'm really looking forward to St. Maarten and St. Thomas. We could end up going to just about anywhere, lol. Just as long as I'm on the ship I'll be happy though.

Hey V

I feel the exact same way -- I could stay "at sea" for the whole cruise. I do love shopping in St. Thomas but could save a lot of money if we did not port there.

I just went to the Princess website and I see the Caribbean Princess cruise scheduled for tomorrow is now taking a "western" route rather than an "eastern" route.

I did a search on the new storm "Karl" and the prediction now is that it will stay at sea and not hit landfall. That's good news for most folks but for us ""vacationers" staying at sea may not be a good thing. Oh well, no need to stress now hopefully we will have smooth sailing.

Counting the days...

I know what you mean Nancy...
We probably won't know our intinerary until we are boarding the ship at this rate. LOL. I'll be happy no matter what.

I think you said you had been on Royal Caribbean before, what ship did you sail? If it was a Voyager Class ship it would be interest to hear how you feel the Grand Class ships compare after this cruise.

Hi V

I sailed on the Explorer of the Seas in 2002. It was wonderful. I am anxious to see how the Caribbean Princess compares. Six more days until our vacation starts. We are flying into Ft. Lauderdale Friday afternoon and hope to start relaxing shortly thereafter... What other ships have you sailed on?

I have sailed on RCL Voyager of the Seas (same as explorer), NCL Leeward (great little ship no longer in service), NCL Norwegian Sea, and Holland American Rotterdam V. I have visited and inspected over 50 ships though and know pretty much all the ships of ever line. Not only a travel agent, but I really love ships and cruising.

I also am getting into Ft. Lauderdale Friday evening and staying at the Marriott Pier 66. Where are you all staying?

Have you seen the threads on other boards for this cruise?

Darrell
