Cruising with new luggage security?

Please post in this forum if you have cruised on Carnival recently and let us know what the situation was with your luggage.

Did you lock it? Did you have any problems with it being locked?

Did you leave it unlocked? Was anything removed while it was unlocked?

We're cruising in 3 weeks, and always use cable ties on our luggage. Don't want to cause any undue delays because of this, but am very uncomfortable leaving my luggage unlocked.

Any updated info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Terry

We were on the Miracle Nov. 12. The plastic electrical ties that I used on as locks on our luggage were still in place when placed outside our cabin.

Hi, I always lock my luggage when I arrive at the cruiseport. The porters and crew workers will not open up your luggage. I do use those TSA small locks. But I never pack jewelry or meds in my luggage.

My main concern is when I buy new luggage.... I buy cheapy luggage because the porters do throw your luggage and let the rain fall on it just like in the airports.

I bought me a beautiful new luggage and I am thinking of saving it for land travel when I drive my car and arrive at a hotel with my nice new luggage.

I plan to use old luggage for Carnival ships.
I pack one small suitcase with sodas and water bottles since I drive my car to the cruiseport.

WE just got back from our Jan. 16th to the 24th cruise on the Carnival Freedom. I knew nothing of any anti-lock rules. We put locks on our luggage at the port and our luggage was at our door before dinner. We leave in Dec. on the Miracle and plan on using our locks. I will call and ask about their new rule and find out if the porters are Carnival employees, and let them know I will hold them responsible if they remove my locks and anything comes up missing while being left in the hall lock free. Maybe if they get enough complaints this will be changed back to locks permitted.

I read the Carnival contract last night...all fifteen pages...and Carnival pretty much stated that they aren't responsible for anything anyone but actual Carnival employees do. Which means if the porters are not Carnival employees - and last I heard they weren't (though I'm still waiting for word from my CPVP about this) - then Carnival isn't responsible for what they do. Makes it an interesting situation....

Mrs. B. what did you use to get the plastic ties off?

My husband likes to travel with a small pair of sissors but with the crack down in secruity I wonder if we can even get those on.

If you take me serious, it's your problem

A pair of cheap nail clippers will work if they're not the big thick zip ties.
