December or April

I am wondering if Hawaii is better in December or April. I am currently booked on Pride of Aloha in April but can save over $300 per cabin if I go Dec 12-19. Any reason not to switch or any thought on why such a price difference?

We want to snorkel so which ever is best for that.

Thanks. This board is wonderful.

Land vacations are usually cheaper right before the holidays b/c most people can't / don't go away then. I assume similar logic applies to cruises.

I can't give you personal experience about Hawaii but when I went to the islands a few years ago during that period they were empty. I mean empty. Our resort was only about 1/3 full. That had its good points & its bad points.

Haven't been to Hawaii in Dec, but have been there in Jan, Feb, March, April, May and July. From what we saw in Jan/Feb and what I have read April is by far the better choice. The seas can be rough mid winter. The water around the islands is not the same as the Caribbean Sea. Just my opinion.

I think the main reason they are offerning you such a deal is that they are stuck with a shortage of rooms and one big new boat short!
Remember the Pride of America should have been in Hawaii by April, but it sank in Germany in January, so it won't be ready for delivery on time.

Well, i've been there in August and it was much calmer. In the winter the seas are stronger. The winter season is when all the surfers come out, the swells are huge. Either way you go, don't miss out you'll never want to come back to your state. If i could i would sell beach chairs and live on the beach for the rest of my life with my surfboard under my right arm .) Have fun. I wish i was coming with!!

I was in Hawaii (Maui) in mid December many years back, and was very dissapointed with the cold weather. I was coming from California and it just wasn't all that warm to me. If it were me, I would stick with April.
