It's deer season here in the midwest and the deer are really on the move. DH nipped one tonight on his way home and the next car hit it. Luckily no one but the deer was hurt.

Let's all be careful as they can be very dangerous.

They've been pretty active here for about a month. I live in a wooded area and they seem to want to stand in the street or climb up on my deck. =shrug Becareful driving at dusk. I have a little fur in my headlight where I clipped one once. It freaks you out! ::eek: Glad your DH is ok.

My poor DD has had her share of run ins with animals. The first time is not for those with a weak constitution.

First time - Young, newly licensed driver on the interstate. A deer runs in front of a semi as she was passing the semi and the remains splattered all over her car. Luckily she got her dear bf of the time to clean it up for her. She was very upset as well but it taught her a very important lesson and she repects how fast things can happen. A little dog running out in front of her car one snowy morning taught her how quickly your car can end up in the ditch as well. The dog was fine.

Second time - She and the same bf are driving and she sees a deer. Hits her brakes to avoid hitting the deer and the deer runs head first into the side of her door. Left the impression on her door.

Third time - This past January she was headed to work and a coyote ran in front of her car on the highway. There was a state police officer behind her who stopped with her and remarked it was the largest coyote he had ever seen. That coyote did over $2000 worth of damage.

My dear daughter must have animal magnetism!

We played cards at my sister's the other night. I was driving home after midnight.

There are usually many deer on the road on that ride home, so I was driving very slowly and very careful. I kept watching and waiting for one to pop out, out of nowhere....

Made it all the way home without seeing one deer....then I pulled into the driveway, and there was a deer standing right by my front door! He looked at me like "what are you doing here?"

We live out in the "country" and our subdivision is adjacent to the Wilderness National Battlefield....we have LOTS of deer. I see deer every morning year around as I am driving to work at 4:25 a.m......I hold my breath too as I know one day one of these deer will have my ame on them......

Don't forget to be careful of those trigger happy hunters either. A few of my friends and I own ATV's and usually do not venture into the woods during this time of the year. Sometimes I'll go out alone just to scare off any deer that are out in the open and may be in danger of being shot at. I find it strange that hunters all but wiped out the coyote and wolf populations, then complain there are too many deer and say "we need to control the deer population". It's because of them the deer are out of control to begin with! JMHO

Driving home from my DD's with my grandaughter last week, I saw a deer on the side of the road. I stopped the car and let it cross, one, two, three, four deer crossed. It too is a wooded area and I watch closely when driving through there.

Wow, deer are the one animal who are not eating dinner off my porch.

I am being very careful, tho, when I go wander thru the woods on all fours with a coatrack on my head. (don't ask):lol

My dad's younger brother was deer hunting years ago and was shot and killed by a trigger happy hunter who couldn't be sure of what he was shooting at.He left a wife and 3 small kids behind--all because someone "thought " he saw a deer.
I hunted when I was growing up but after my uncle was killed I just couldn't ever be comfortable being in the woods again.
