Denali - 2010 Princess Repositioning

My friends & I are booked on a Princess repositioning from Anchorage to Beijing on 9/18/2010.
Princess does not offering a Denali trip in conjunction with this cruise date. So, we thought we'd go early and book our own. It seems that many (not all) lodges are closed at this time.

Are they trying to tell us something? Does anyone have any experience with going to Denali (or Alaska) at this time of year?

By mid-September the weather in Denali is turning iffy. Also, the lodges are staffed, primarily, by college kids who have had to return to school leaving the facilities short-handed. We were there in early September, the last week our lodge was open, and supplies were running short.
