Departing Galveston

We are wanting to do a big family-reunion cruise next Christmas from Galveston to Mexico but...my Mother-in-law is scared to death of the water. We just got back from our first cruise and the leg from Nassau to Jacksonville was pretty rough and we all got sea-sick. How rough does the water between Cozumel and Galveston get in December?

One of the smoothest cruises I ever took was an early December cruise on Celebration (same ship you took from Jacksonville) out of Galveston a few years back. Having said that, you just never know. The ships sailing from Galveston these days are larger than the little Celebration so they would probably offer you a smoother ride. Bottom line is that if it is windy, you're going to get some choppy water.

Personally, all the cruises I have taken in the Western Carib. have been smooth sailing - you don't have the trade winds you get in the East - but as the above response says, you never know!
