This is our first cruise and I want this to be a good experience. Has anyone been on this cruise recently and do you have any suggestions to make this a trip worth remembering? Next I would like to get an upgrade on my cabin but it is REALLY expensive now that we are booked any suggestions?

First of all...don't go expecting everything to be spectacular...and don't sweat the small stuff. Ships are huge and the people on them are human...so stuff happens. We've had annoyances on our 12 cruises...but nothing that totally ruined a cruise. We've also learned that the nicer you are to your wait staff and room stewards the better service you receive from them. Be interested in where they are from, etc. They do have...or use to have...some rules about not talking about their family but we've found that most want to. Don't be offended if someone doesn't.

Research your ports ahead of time so you know what you want to do. If you are nervous about making it back to the ship on time in each port then take a Carnival excursion. They wait for their own.

You don't say when you are cruising...so I don't know how long you have. About the only thing I can think of as far as upgrading would be to watch the prices of your particular cruise...if they go down perhaps the amount it would take to upgrade would be more reasonable.

We were on the Destiny in October of 2004...if you have other questions please let me know.

Happy Cruising!

We too had our first cruise on the Destiny late Oct. 2005. We were so entranced with cruising that we leave in 36 days on the Glory!! SandyBeach is right tho. With nearly 2500 people on board, stuff going wrong is bound to happen. Expect it and you won't be too disappointed and if everything goes well, you'll be thrilled. We too had NOTHING that spoiled the trip at all!. We over spent on photos---by alot!. They will take your pic a dozen times. If you want any further infor, email me and I will give what details I can. As for upgrading, you don't say what type of room you have, but I will say you would be happiest with a balcony room. We were fortunate enough to book a suite about 8 weeks before departure. Got it for just over $1000. But there is nothing like sitting on a deck watching the sunset or coming into port. Have a wonderful time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!mahtze@aol.com
