Dialysis Cruise?

We are planning on taking my in-laws on a cruise next spring.

My husband & I have 2 children who will be almost 6 and almost 3 at time of cruise. Because my FIL requires dialysis 3x weekly, there are only certain dates, ships, etc. that we are able to go on.

We are looking at the Celebrity Millenium Eastern Caribbean 04/16/2006. Has anyone with young children had experience with this ship? What kind of stateroom would be best for our family of 4? Are there connecting staterooms?

Any feedback, positive and negative, would be appreciated.

Hi RJ,

I am not familiar with the needs of a dialysis patient, but if you do a search on this board you will find quite a bit of information that has been submitted by cruisers that have dealt with this problem.

The Millennium is a beautiful ship with excellent food and service. With three generations traveling together you should have something to please everyone. While we haven't traveled with young children, we have seen some of the organized childrens activitiesonboard, and the youngsters seemed to be having a great time. There are various combinations of connecting rooms (inside/outside/suite), which should be workable for you. There are also family rooms and some rooms have sofas that make into beds, and there pullman beds that let down from the ceiling. Your best bet may be to get a good local travel agent that specializes in cruise travel, who should be able to advise you of how to best fill your needs. Celebrity cruises pretty much controls their cruise prices, so you will not get any big discounts from a TA. To get the best information you may want to book through Celebrity and insist on getting detailed answers to your questions. If for some reason you want to change TAs later, that is not a problem, and being able to talk directly to Celebrity may be an advantage. To find the cabins with connecting doors, family rooms and additional beds you can just go to the Celebrity web site and look at the deck plans. The deck plans contain all the details of the cabin configuration.

Hope you can come up with a great cruise plan, and that your entire family has a wonderful cruise experience.

similar to Pt there have been no kids personally involved wit us when cruising. However it's has been quite obvious from our travels on a M class ship that Celebrety runs an active and well participated in childrens program on those ships.

Ajoining rooms are spread around the ship and are quite obvious on the deck plans in brochures and or on line.

It sure is great that you can plan a cruise with everyone esp. with dialysis involved.
