Diamond Princess - Cabin

CABIN:
We chose a partially obstructed view cabin on the Emerald deck. We could see the “man overboard†boat, but still got a wonderful view of the sea. The cabin was midship so it was very comfortable in terms of motion. The seas were extremely calm for the majority of the cruise and the motion felt was extremely minimal. On the last full day of sailing (moderate waves), we only felt a very gentle motion that literally “rocked us to sleep.â€Â

· Beds
The cabin was spacious with twin beds that could be converted into a queen sized bed. The bed was very comfortable with two pillows per person. Our cabin steward was very attentive in cleaning our cabin twice a day and turning our bed down with a chocolate on the pillow in the evening. The curtains were room darkening and very good at blocking out light. I know that some folks swear by balconies, but I’d rather save the extra money and take another cruise!

· Lighting and Electrical Outlets
There was sufficient lighting with bedside lamps on either side with dimmer switches. The storage space was more than adequate and the cabin had several drawers in the nightstands and at the desk. The desk had three electrical outlets, and there were two in the bathroom. However, the one is the bathroom wouldn’t take my curling iron with the plug that had one prong larger than the other. There is a hair dryer in the cabin, as well as a refrigerator.

· Television
There was a TV with movies shown daily, as well as shopping updates, etc… by crew members. There was CNN as well as other stations.

· Bathroom
The shower was great with a spray that could be adjusted as well as a temperature control. There was lots of room for toiletries on four shelves to the left and space under the vanity. Contrary to stories and jokes about showers on cruise ships, the shower was not as large as one in a hotel – but more than adequate. The bathroom was always stocked with hard mlled soap as well as with eucalyptus shampoo, conditioner and lotion from the Lotus Spa. You could also request a robe to use in your cabin for the duration of the cruise - a nice touch!
