Hi Alley!  We did personal choice dining on the Grand last September.  Up til then we had gone the traditional route.  We loved personal choice and would probably never go back to traditional if we have the choice.

Ideally you are supposed to be able to show up at the dining room at any time during the posted dinner hours.  We did just that  on the Grand and had no long waits.  We mostly asked to be seated with other diners rather than a table for two.  We only had to wait one evening and the wait was about 15 minutes....no longer than we often have to wait for a table in a restaurant at home.  No big deal.  We're on a cruise to relax!

Cruisers that are just off the Diamond are suggesting that it is a good idea to make reservations for the whole week as soon as you get onboard.  Keep in mind that the Diamond has just completed her second full week of cruising.  Things may improve as time passes.  If you keep reading reviews that suggest making those reservations as your cruise gets closer you might want to consider it then.  Don't worry, you will have plenty of opportunity to eat :grin!!!
