Hello everyone! I am sailing on the Diamond on April 10th, just a little more than a week away, and I couldn't be more excited! This is my first time sailing and I really don't know what to expect but I am very excited! Can anyone tell me what I can expect, what I have to look forward to, or any litle tidbits of advice you might have would be greatly appreciated! : ) I am 22 years old and the crowdI'm going with are all in thier early 30's. Can anyone give me a basic idea of the age breakdown on the ship. Are there a lot of children, teenagers, older adults, etc.? I'm so thristy for any info/pictures anything would be greatly appreciated. Is anyone else sailing on this day?

I will be on the Diamond on 4/17 (so take good care of her - LOL). It will be our first time on Princess so I can't help with the demographics on the ship.

Here's a few tips for your first trip:

1. Bring a nightlight for the cabin at night
2. Bring some small bills for tipping when you get room service
3. Some lines give you a discount on refills in the souvenir glass so buy one drink in the souvenir glass then use it for refills.
4. take a highlighter to mark things in the daily Patter that you want to do
5. Check your shipboard account midweek to make sure that there are no errors - easy to clear up now rather than on the last morning.
6. Have a wonderful time!!!!

I sailed on March 20th on the Diamond Princess. There seemed to be an even distribution of older adults, younger couples, and families with children. There are lots of activities, so I doubt you'll be bored.

It was my first cruise and the ship was just beautiful. You'll have fun just being yourself and interacting with everyone.

As for room service tipping, it was automatically added on your shipboard account so no need to tip unless you want to go "above and beyond." I loved filling out the card the night before and having a light breakfast (with coffee!) delivered every morning.

It's a fantasy you won't want to end.....

Hello and have a great trip. One item that is handy to bring is a pad of post it notes. You can leave a message on your door for folks that you are travelling with and if they bring it too they can do the same. Easier than trying to catch them on the phone.

Also, regarding tipping room service personnel. To my knowledge, your room steward is the only person who attends your cabin that is automatically tipped to your account. The folks who deliver room service do not participate in, nor share in that tip. They should be tipped when they delver items to your room. IF your assigned room steward does make the delivery, it is outside of his normal duties and he should be tipped as well for it ,in my opinion. I usually tip $2.00 unless there is a crowd of folks he is delivering for, if so, add a few dollars.
