We have been reading promotional material about Millie and keep seeing the dine-in cellar mentioned. Is this part of the specialty restaurant? Do you specifically have to ask for this seating? This is our first cruise with Celebrity on Sept 18, 2004 from Venice to Barcelona. Who else is going?

On Millennium there is one table in the "wine room" in the Olympic restaurant that is what I think you are talking about. You might try making special reservations with the Restaurant Mananger for this room.

When I went 2 years ago, they didn't have dining in there, but favored guests would be offered a tour of the wine cellar. The wine steward had some interesting artifacts to show there; kind of like a very specialized galley tour.

ALL THE MILLENNIUM CLASS ships have the Wine Room and they all use it for dining. The problem is that you need 7-8 pax to use it. If you are trying to make reeservations through the Captains Club they will tell you that they can not give you that room but they will mention it with your reservation if you request it. The Captains Club also wants all the dinner partners to be CC members...otherwise you will have to make your reservations when onboard. The Maitre D' reserves the Wne Room for "special parties" ...draw your own conclusions!! If you have 7-8 people you can go down to the restaurant and introduce yourself (read; bring money and tip accordingly...or gifts!!)

I requested the wine room for my anniversary party on the SUMMIT in October...Fabio told me that the room was booked etc. I then gave Fabio a special NORMANDIE lapel pin and said thanks so much...We went down to the NORMANDIE Restaurant at 8:00 PM that evening and guess what?? Fabio escorted our party into the Wine Room. Needless to say, it was a fantastic party and a fantastic meal. We tipped an extra $40 for our party because the service was so outstanding...at $5 per person it was well worth it.

Beg, borrow or steal but be there...it will be one of the best dining experiences you will ever have.

We're going on the Millenium in May and have a party of 12. We would like to book dinner in the Olympia Restaurant but you are saying that we cannot do that until we are on the boat? Or can you book the Olympia beforehand but not the wine cellar? None of us are member of CC - its our first cruise. Would our TA do that for us given the size of our party? You mentioned extra tips. I understand that 15% will be added to our alcohol bill so it sounds as if you tipped $40 on that evening - per couple?

I agree with the other posters. The dinner in the Olympia is wonderful, but I wouldn't worry about booking the cellar. It's a delightful room... we've been given a tour a couple of times. If I had my choice I'd book in the first room - the one with the original paneling fromn the Olympic. The service will be the same in either room so don't panic!

The wine room has no windows as I recall. Plus it's small. I would much rather eat in the main part of the Olympic to have windows and people watch. The whole dinner presentation is a show.

HI MCD,

The Wine Room will only hold 8 people. I agree with Sue Clark (as usual!!) the Olympic Dinning Room on the Millenium is fantastic...stay with the original Paneling...Fabulous!!
BTW the original paneling is actually the paneling from the First Class Extra Tariff Dining Room on the Olympic...very posh!!
