Dining on Grand Princess

Reading reviews I noticed that many people say that they sign up for traditional dining only to get on the ship and find out it has been changed to personal dining. They also say they have to wait for a table. Having only traveled on Royal Carib 2X we signed up for early dining only to get the same table at the same time each night with no waiting. I don't want to sign up for something and have it changed and top it off wait too.

If you have it confirmed, it will not be changed. Many people "request" early traditional and if it is full, may be put on a waitlist. If slots are not available by the time you sail, you will automatically get PC dining.

It will be listed on your docs from Princess when they come and I was told they should be on the Princess personalizer if you go online to Princess.com and check your status..have your TA check also if you feel the need...we always get 2nd seating..but as we book 14 -16 months in advance we NEVER have had a problem yet.....Good luck..:daisy..Joanne

Also, since you have gone on Princess before, I noticed that some people get their cabin upgraded. We have two rooms, my kids are traveling with us, their room is right across the hall from our balcony room. This would cause a problem - Is there even a chance of this happening?

When we went on the Grand, we requested early traditional seating. We ended up with PC, and went to the Maitre' d to fix it. He did--put us (2) at an empty table for 8, where we ended up dining alone for the duration of the cruise. Not real impressed with the way Princess handles dining requests and the whole "PC dining" thing. Talked to several people over lunch at lido, and they had waits ranging from 5-20 minutes, even with PC "reservations." Now, the Sabatini's was great!

smize....yes, it could happen. You should tell your TA immediately (if you have not already done so) to have Princess mark both rooms NO UPGRADE. I cannot stress how important it is to do this if you require and have booked specific cabins! Not too long ago a poster on this board was most upset because they were upgraded leaving them with children on another deck!!!! Call Princess/TA immediately to have this done!!!!

We tipped the matrd to have the same table evry night same waitress every night no matter what time we got there between 7 and 8 pm, so we had pc dining and in essence got traditional..;.. hopefully Guido the matrd is still on the grand princess, its amazing what 50.00 will do -we got amazing service, and hand made appetizers above and beyond, im talking like major silver platters we did end up tipping him an additonal 40.00 again the last night of the cruise because of the outstanding srvice we recieved.

We usually do early dining but on Princess Dawn were put on PC we went at six the first night and ended up with great waiter and table companions we made a standing reservation for rest of week at this table as did the table companions. Worked out well for us. Never had to wait to be seated.
