Dining options?

My wife and I are thinking about taking a cruise on Celebrity. Last 5 cruises have been on Princess. Looking for a change! We have really enjoyed the anytime dining on Princess. I know this is not available on Celebrity but do they have tables for two if the wife and I want an evening by ourselves? Do they also have the specialty restaurants? Any information:appreciated!:thumb

It all depends on which ship you are looking at. Most ships do have some tables for two in the dining room but not too many. Some Celebrity ships have specialty restaurants and they are all themed after ocean liners. The Mille class chips have them as does Century and Azamara Journey. Some of the smaller, older X ships don't have specialty restaurants.

The only two main stream ships that =X= has without specialty dining are the Mercury and Galaxy.

All ships have alternative dining which require a phone call reservation sometime prior to eating. A small charge to cover tip is collected.

M class ships actually have quite a few tables for two sprinkled around the main restaurant (some however are not really great locations.(.eg against the wall at the back (front?) and a table for 4 can sometimes be made for two depending on volume of pax on your cruise. That's what the Maitre D is for :)

My husband and I have been sailing Celebrity for several years and we have always been able to get a table for just the two of us in the main dining room. As Seabob mentioned, use your Maitre D. The dining room is one of our first stops after we board the ship -- to see where our table is, and make an arrangement with the Maitre D for our own table. We have always been lucky to have an excellent location. It also helps that we prefer the late seating -- it seems less people do -- therefore more available tables. FYI, also a good idea to book your specialty restaurant reservation early too, so you can get the date and time you want. Hope this helps :)

If you do request a table for two in the dining room and get it, it will be your dining table for the entire cruise. Since Celebrity has assigned dining (both time and table) for dinners in the main dining room, you cannot just request the table for two there for one or two meals.
Also, if you are planning on the Solstice or Equinox, they do have several specialty restaurants as well as alternative casual dining.

Just off the Infinity and a trip to Alaska. There were lots of table for twos around the room. We were upstairs this trip and along with thte usual two's in some not so great places as the previous poster mentions there were fours broken down to two's on both side up there. I really didn't check down. There was a large group traveling and they were all late diner's so that may have been the reason. We wanted a table for 6 or 8 and got four because of the group conditions aboard. No big deal as we were traveling with the other couple and had a great week in the main room any ways. Went to the SS United States for the wonderful service one night also. A few New menu additions there also.

It's true. The tables for two are always ALWAYS in very poor locations (i.e. up against the wall near galley doors, etc.) this is both upstairs and downstairs. Part of the fun of a cruise is enjoying the company of interesting people for lively dinner conversation. Give it a try.

Hey Bob, was the hotel director still that blonde woman? Can't remember her name. Did you hit the champage bar? Remember his name?

Noe not odd. That Esquimalt deal was for pods. That's the last time a M class ship was in for pod control. This time its for regular servicing. Including checking on the pods via systems that they have installed to do just that and for other area's of the ship that they can't update while cruising. The wet area's such as public showers Tpool stuff etc. Most of the ship looks just grreat.

Some of us are hoping that they get rid of some of the furniture on "That side" it seems that past passengers may have left something behind embedded :D and of course as you have mentioned that will stop just about the same time as she gets back from drydock. :)

Well, October 1st is your BIG DAY!!! =docdance Your next one you can try out the Champagne Bar! Ricky was head bartending there last year. When your next planned?
I doubt they'll toss the furniture though. Honest to God, Febreze takes out anything lingering smells...even bad cologne. :p

BTW - housing values going way up with the 2010 games?
