While i realize that foraml night means tux, or dark suit, we plan on being dressed very nicely, and im wondering if he could be turned away for not wearing a jacket, ive seen posts on here that a lot of people have seen men not wear jackets on formal night. i just wanted others answers on wether that was true or not.

When you are on land and a place wants you to wear a jacket and tie and you do not want to, then you go somewhere else, right. It is the same on the ship, there are other places to eat that do not require a suit and tie and he can be happy. It depends on the ship, I have seen people turned away for not dressing according to the guidelines, and other times people have sat at our table on formal night with a gulf shirt and slacks. So you never know for sure. I have seen many forms of dress on formal night.

The Grand is very dressy on formal night. We saw lots and lots of tuxes. We saw lots of dark dress suits worn with a bow tie. We saw a few blazers worn with colored shirts and ties and these men looked out of place. We saw no one without a jacket and tie of some sort. If your fiance hates to dress up, you can always eat at another venue on formal night.

I've been on 4 Princess cruises and as stated Formal night is extremely formal, and on the Captain's Party Night ,in fact Tuxes outnumbered suits...As long as you won't feel self concious, I saw on several occasions It can be very intimidating if you are out of place at sea when you are surrounded by all the other passengers dolled up to the teeth... I mean full Makeup,Lot's of sparkle jewelry ,high heels etc...Several women on the Coral were furious with their Travel agents in February as she had failed to impress upon them how Formal the Captains dinner clientele dressed...If you have the personality where being different from 99% of the others are dressed does'nt bother you ,and can brazen out the meal with them thats cool.... Have an awesome cruise...Joanne

And that is, how nice a guy looks when he puts on a tux, you will be looking at all the ladies that are looking at him and saying =looking :lol :lol have a great time on your cruise and take lots of pictures of the both of you all dressed up it will be fun. Go and have your pictures taken on formal night with a nice background and you can frame it when you get home =funsign

It is the truth ,does'nt matter height, weight ,anything...Men look sexy, gorgeous and just damn fine looking, and to boot they usually could care less, while Laurie is right..You're going. Hey honey back off with the goo-goo eyes,He's mine!!!..Have a fab time and take photos..Oh by the way ,the best way to evaluate the photos taken till the end of the trip ...Put all photos of you in the bottom of the shelfs at the gallery, then the next to last night make your selection from the collection you've amasssed at the bottom, some people change their minds and need more copies and it's hell to try to get them back as the culled ones from days before are in a huge stack :(...have fun...:daisy...Joanne
