Dining Time?

Am I correct in thinking that most have picked anytime?

May make sense for us since the additional fixed time is 5:30 and that is not much better than 6.

As red stated I am in belief at this time that we will go with the Late Traditional at 8:15 seeing as we have quite a few BUSY Port Days. :scratch:Another reason for NOT taking Anytime at this time was that the rumor is that Princess will NOT allocate a specific table & time for the entire cruise unless of course U take the time slots of 5:30, 6:00. or 8:15 that are set for the Traditional dining times. This is NOT a guaranteed statement but it has been verified by more than one source. So therefore I figure going with the TRUE info of a 8:15 Late which is palatable we have a viable dining option. Once onboard folks can check and see if Princess does offer any other Anytime dining options as its much easier to get a Anytime Dining Option than a Traditional Dining option these days. Thanx Mike for getting the ball rolling on this one as it would be good to find out what EVERYONE has been assigned. Once we find out the particulars then we can get the find tables aligned if we have multiple tables so that we are located in the same dining area. :boogie:

E, that was pretty much our experience on the Star Princess to Alaska with Maw....to have a set reservation we had to go with the traditional "early" dining time but we usually slid it out to 6:30ish. And you could always forgo the "reservation" and just go up for a table at your time....and be given a beeper if they couldn't sit your right away. By the list of who is cruising it looks like MOST are those who like late dining anyway except Maw, Paw and Leatherneck. I prefer late but he likes early LOL. I guess we will be the only ones at a table for 4 for early timeframe.

John and I have used anytime dining on a number of cruises. A couple of years ago, on the Alaskan cruise, we were a group of 8. We made reservations (talked to the maitre D') at a specific time each evening and had the same waiter. Maybe not the exact same table but in this particular waiter's area.
For this cruise we're anytime dining with Ed and Cyndi.

Good thing I checked again today. We are signed up for Late Traditional. Guess that means a 4 pm snack.

We would of NEVER left U out so as to have to frequent the Horizon Court ALL by yourself Mike. :diablo: There are FAR too MANY things worse than watching a Caribbean sunset with a drink in hand and your loved one by your side.

For what its worth when I spoke with a kind lady at Princess yesterday she made mention that indeed they try and be flexible with dining. In fact she made mention that given prior notice one can now switch on a daily basis between Anytime Dining and Traditional as long as the Dining Room Staff have prior knowledge as in say 4 - 8 hours advance notice.

That way the staff with this info has the ability to move people around and give MORE folks their dining request. Not sure how that would work with opening up Traditional Dining seating but I am sure we will see next month.

Right now it looks like as of now we have a table for 4 with Anytime Early, a Table of 6 with Anytime Mid to Late, and a Table of 6 with Late Traditional.

Janet, this is what we have done on other ships, and it worked out very well. we had the same table and same time, but it was the time the group agreed upon before we even set out.
Unfortunately Princess seems to be going through some kind of growing stage again with this, and the options we are getting is to either book a table in "anytime" at the exact time as the traditional times.. and that rather defeats the purpose.. or booking on a daily basis.. a pain in the neck when dealing with a group.. or as you say.. turning up and getting a beeper.
again.. this is not a good option with groups.

So we are sticking with the late traditional unless we hear something different once onboard.. and even then.. only IF our whole table agrees.

BTW.. your lot are also late trad....
we just need to get you into it. Thanks for the reminder.

Late traditional just means more cookies at 4 or 5 and a predinner martini for Susie.
