Has anyone had a bad experience with a discount TA. Is it okay to mention a specific website and ask about it in these threads? Got a good price and would like to accept.

There are always good and bad stories. However, if you ask good questions and choose a reputable, experienced, cruise only TA, you should be fine!

Have used an on line agent who advertises on this board for our last four cruises. No agent in the past has ever provided better service. Also no one when I price a cruise has been able to beat their prices.

This might sound like a stupid question, but what constitutes good service.

If I choose the ship, date and cabin number. They send me the documents. and thats it. they dont have that much to do - so where does the service come in. just wondering what i should expect regarding good service (besides the good price). unless good service means you actually have the reservation you're suppose to. lol.i don't mean to be smart about this, just wondering. thanks.

We normally also pick our own sailing, cabin, etc. We need little if any help on the research. BUT...

Once we booked a Cat. 1 on Summit at a special promotion price. A couple of days later, our TA emailed us that she could put us in a Cat. 3 (now FV) corner cabin for the same price... do we want it? You bet we did... the best cabin we've ever had... THAT'S GOOD SERVICE.

We were booked to go on Infinity to Alaska. A couple of days before we were to leave, Celebrity cancelled the cruise (azipod problems). We already had vacation planned for 10 family members. We called our remote TA and told her we needed to use this vacation time. There were no other Alaska sailings available, but there was a sailing available to Bermuda. Of course, Celebrity refunded the money for the cancelled cruise and offered a free cruise to those affected on our sailing. They didn't even have the notice out yet, but she literally stayed up all night getting things arranged with Celebrity, and all ten of our family was transferred to the Bermuda sailing, and the cruise was at no cost to us. THAT'S GOOD SERVICE.

Most of the time, nothing goes wrong, but if it does, I'm comfortable knowing that we have someone who will work so hard to get the best for us.

I have other stories, but those are two good examples.

(Thanks again, Lori)

Hang around these boards long enough and you'll read all the BAD service stories...

But, basically...
I expect my TA to come up with suggestions and alternatives that I may not have thought of...A couple of times, I thought I had figured out a good cruise to take and my TA has suggested alternatives that actually appealled to me MORE...
I expect my TA to be reachable and available, within reason of course...
I expect my TA to go to bat for me with the cruise line when issues come up...even minor ones...like applying coupons received after booking...
I expect my TA to keep an eye open for me for price reductions and the like (of course, I usually watch these like a hawk myself, but when they do come up...)....I expect my TA to fight for me and to GET those reductions...
My TA also does little things like keeps watching for that slightly more desirable cabin on the other side of the ship to come open...and to jump in and get me the change...
I expect my TA to answer every stupid little question I keep calling her with...and to keep making all those changes to the itinerary I keep coming back with (tacking on hotels packages, changing the air deal, etc.)...
I expect my TA to be honest, above board, to confirm everything in writing and to immediately fax me all confirmations from the cruise line...
And I want her to pleasant and charming and friendly no matter how stressed out she really might be...

And she is...
