The last time we were on her was in 2006 -- and she had problems with her air conditioning problems then.

In her last dry dock -- the issue was not addressed.

DH and I would love to that 28 day cruise -- but we won't book this ship -- not even for Alaska -- as we can not stand a hot ship.

Maybe you will luck out and get a cabin where the air conditioning is working.

I agree! its no fun if your stateroom is too hot.I guess you could always sleep on the balcony at night.

Panama Canal can be very hot and humid....... a/c is certainly desireable.
We sailed Statendam a number of times but not for years. Our experience is too old to be valid as to the condition of the ship.

We do sail her sister, Maasdam, very often and she is only one year newer. We think she's in wonderful condition and her a/c was improved at her recent drydock. Maybe they worked on Statendam's at her drydock also?

NOPE -- neither the air conditioning or the plumbing issues were addressed at her dry dock.

We are doing the same cruise in Nov. 2011. Ask me afterwards. We did the same cruise in March 2010 on the Maasdam and had A/C problems as well. We complained frequently, but politely and finally met with chief engineer and hotel manager. They said they had done everything they could and eventually brought us a fan for the room. That helped us tremendously. They also gave us a $400 credit for the first 14 days (we didn't start complaining until day 6-7) and $800 credit for the second two weeks.

The S class ships are lovely -- and HAL has been doing a great job adding the new MIX, etc. to update those areas of the ships.

And HAL knows that people love that size of a ship.

But HAL should address these air conditioning and plumbing problems.

Sorry to hear that you had AC problems.
