Hey turkeyman,

Haven't been here for quite a while. Personally glad to see you getting back to the high seas. Can I help you pack? Do you have a large trunk (that I can hide In)?

Congrats again and get back to that packing.

Hey there "cups." How did you fair in the storm? Up here in Picayune we caught the full force of the thing and had quite a bit of damage. Were in the eye for an hour and a half. What a ride that thing was. Had a cruise on the Elation booked for the second week of this past Sept but that went by the wayside. Got a 100% refund and a $100 p//p shipboard credit for a cruise we book this year. I had to run trains from Meridian, MS / New Orleans, seeing our RR was tore up between New Orleans and Mobile. Been having to live in Meridian for the past 5 months, but I'm home now, working again in Gentilly.

There's few on this board from the "olden days" when we used to rattle things back and forth. It seems like a different board, as there aren't as many wanting to talk about general things like: anticipation for a cruise, congradulating one another, etc. I've put some posts out there for general interest that seemed to have fallen on deaf ears. Oh well, I'm excited if they aren't. Suppose I already know how to smuggle booze onboard, where the tops optional deck is located, why I can't get and upgrade, and what time the waterslide closes. It's just a different atmosphere here, now.

I see things that interest me from time to time and reply the best possible, but mostly, just read. Have to do something to help get schyked up.

We're on the tenth deck, again, for the fourth time, and have a balcony this time also. Rumor has it that NO might get the new cruise ship now being built, I think, in Italy, bigger than the Conquest. Keep you fingers crossed. That may be your ride. Keep in touch.

randk, just watch out for the nails in the streets of the devastated areas. Tire companies are doing a very good business right now. Good to hear from you. I feel like another ole friend has just dropped in. Hope all is well!

Fortunately, living on the westbank, across from N.O, I did not flood or have any real damage. Maybe fence, shingles on one side of a shed, one upturned shingle on my roof and just a pinch of siding by the facia. Now I may have to wait a year for southern roofing to come check my lonely shingle problem (more prevention than fixing). ------ my neighbors across the street and in back of me had EXTENSIVE roof and other damage. (I kind of like that trailer across the street).

My biggest problem was having to use two cars and 16 hours of getting out of town to finally -Tuscaloosa with wife (other car), cat, mother in law, dog, myself and a neighbor. Luckly, the wife's uncle was already in a hospital (until they evacuated him). Somebody would have had to stay behind.
Then we had to manuever getting back because work called us, but officials like Maestra were telling us only working people can come back. What a mess. Then there were the roadblocks in and out of westbank N.O. (where mother in law) lives. But once again, I suffered little compared to many others.

The peoplle and red cross in Tuscaloosa were fantastic and well organized. I actually had a dinner at a little church that looked worse off than us. They really gave of their hearts. THANK YOU TUSCALOOSA!!

We will be cruising again in June of 07. However, now that I've been back here and the (wife's family reunion will be here in N.O., I might try talking my sweetheart into a three day cruise. OUCH, the cruising bug just got me and I miss cruising..... gotta go think strategy now!

ps. TM Isn't the 10th deck the lido deck??? Nice deck to be on.

Wow, being a Mobilian, we were much more fortunate than many to our west, but we also evacuated as did ya'll. Bottom line, 'ya got dem docs and could mine for the 4/15/06 cruise on the Glory be far behind? For those of you on the central gulf coast who need a brief fix for your cruise addiction, be aware that the Carnival Holiday resumes 4 and 5 day cruises from Mobile March 27. Ya'll come 'ya heah!

Coffeecups, the ninth deck is Lido, and ten is Panarama. Panarama has less rooms, is close to the pool area and glass elevators. So close to everything but yet so quiet. I've stayed in 1020 twice, 1030 and this time, 1010. In fact, our second time in 1020 I told the wife, "It sure feels good to be back in my own shower."

Everybody keep them fingers crossed for the upcoming storm season. I don't know if I can take another. I keep telling my co-workers in NO, that they haven't been hit by the big one yet. May seem like it was, but that was just a powerful Cat. 3, and missed the hit on NO. I'd hate to see one come up the mouth of the river and move across the Kenner area. That would be a mess.

Right, the tenth deck is the panaroma. And it is quiet.

The only problem I had with lido was that my steward was always on the panaorma deck. Maybe he wanted peace and quiet tool Really, he was great and so is that deck. Since I am booked so early, maybe I'll land up there.

Have a great cruise. Start packing. If it were me, I would by now be driving my wife crazy.
