Does Carnival?

I have heard that Carnival does not enforce the rules for "wild" children onboard. Your take?

Re: I heard Carnival has the "wildest kids" onboard

I was only on a back to back on the Victory so I cannot say what I saw on those two cruises. There was no problem with the kids onboard when we were onboard. Our second week there was one kid that kept getting off into things during a scavenger hunt but the crew kept finding him and bringing him back into the group very quickly. There were quite a few kids onboard.

I would see them in the evening playing basketball or in the pools or on the water slides with Carnival crew keeping a close watch. Never saw them in the hallways.

Kids

Well they couldnt stay out of the hottubs but in this case or the cruise I was on , they really didnt get to do thier tours due to the intenirary change so I dont blame them..

However they did , well it wasnt kids , it was teenagers took over the karaoke place ..

and I think they were drunk but I dont know how they could actually keep teenagers from drinking , because how can you keep track of where the alchohol is ?

I mean you could get it and drink it in your room and I do think that carnival is a wilder crowd but even so , it is not the titanic crowd anyway of haves and have nots ..

Have to agree with PEB, have never see a major problem with kids on Carnival. Camp Carnival is a well organized, well managed program, even from ship to ship.
Probably with Carnival and actually with any line, the biggest kids problem is where kids are managed and supervised by their parents (or lack of which thereof). Even on HAL which for being toted as an oldies but goodies cruise line, has an excellent kids program and I have seen kids gone wild, again these were not kids under the supervision of HAL.
But are we talking one kid going crazy or a whole gang that has palled up and running wild. One kid might be pretty hard to catch, a whole gang can be slowed down with a net. I would have my doubts that any ship would let a gang of a 5-10 kids literally run wild for very long, but sometimes one or two kids running from one end of the lido to the other and happening to get in somebody's way can be exaggerated into a pack of kids running wild for an entire cruise.

"Wild" kids have never been an issue on any of the Carnival cruises we've been on. We almost always cruise during school breaks, so yes, there are lots of kids on board. There is so much for kids to do on a Carnival cruise; they stay busy and happy. We're going on our fifth Carnival cruise next month and from our experience, the "wild and drunk kids on Carnival" stories have been greatly exaggerated.

Hi,
Ditto of PEB, bOB,Cruisemom2. Most of the kids are involved in the organized Camp Carnival stuff. I have not seen many kids at all, but I travel in February, generally. I think there's something to be said for not cruising during Spring Break, or other times when kids are out of school. The kids I have encountered have been mostly well mannered, having fun and generally very nice!
Happy Sails!

No wild kids on our cruise. Alot of kids in the hottub but thats the parents fault for letting them go and Carnivals for not kicking them out. But there were no wild kids running around and my 2 kids just hung out with kids their own age going to the shows, disco, pizza etc.

I would agree - the most annoying kids on cruise ships are ones being monitored by their parents. I am only 18, but I wouldn't put up with the way some of these kids acted. Even the teenagers annoy me sometimes! Hehe.

I never noticed rowdy teenagers on the Carnival ships I've been on. The younger kids are a different story. I don't know where the parents are - I think they have blinders on. We were at an icecarving demonstration and some kids started throwing ice everywhere - the staff couldn't help because the kids couldn't speak English. And then there was the obnoxious kid in the hot tub who had to snorkel - hello - the reason I sit in a hot tub is to relax!

Our family went on the Paradise last year on New Years Week. There were alot of kids on the cruise, our twins in that group, and I never seen any of the kids acting up. I know my kids were having too much fun in camp carnival and they do such a great job entertaining the kids. Thanks campers

Re: I heard Carnival has the "wildest kids" onboard

I think it's important to keep in mind when choosing a cruiseline that some lines do cater to kids/families, such as Disney and Carnival. While I agree that children should be kept under control by their parents (and believe me, we strive very hard as parents to keep our three sons on a short leash), I do take issue with many of the posts I read (not just on this board - I belong to several) where people almost take the "kids should be seen and not heard" attitude. On Carnival at least, there is no "reduced pricing" for children (they are charged the same to cruise as any adult), only reduced pricing for 3rd/4th/5th passengers in a cabin. While this certainly does not give children a license to misbehave (or their parents to ignore or allow such misbehavior), they have just as much right to cruise as anyone else. And we have seen just as many adults "misbehaving" as kids. I'm sure it wasn't primary-school aged kids getting loaded and throwing up in the hallway outside our cabin every other day, it was 20-somethings.

Please don't misunderstand - I'm not saying that anybody in this thread has indicated that they feel children should be "kicked off the ship", but many people do have that attitude. My response to those folks is that they should remember that no one was born an adult; that they were once children, too, and probably a lot more annoying than they remember.

As far as kids in the jacuzzis, everybody complains about this, and I understand the concern. But if the cruiselines place jacuzzis right outside the main pool (the one with the big slide), then of course, kids are gonna want to use them. A solution to this problem would be to have adults-only jacuzzis and kids/family-only jacuzzis, and then for the cruise staff to really enforce the rule. On our recent cruise, the only people in the jacuzzis near the main pool (the one with the big slide) were children. On the other hand, there were never any children in the spa jacuzzi and I saw very few ever using the jacuzzi by the adult pool in the aft of the ship.

As far as the "hot water danger" goes, the temperature of the water of any jacuzzi I've ever been in at any resort or cruise does not come near to what it would take to harm a normal-sized 8 or 9 year old, and certainly not our 120# 12-year-old.

There are choices in cruising; if one is "bugged" by lots of kids, then Carnival is probably not the best choice for that person, especially during summers/holidays/spring break periods.

Happy Sailing!

Re: I heard Carnival has the "wildest kids" onboard

I think two of the hottubs on carnival by the pool are for kids and two are for adults ..

Its funny but kids probably cant read now that I think of it .. not all of them anyway ..

But sometimes when the ones for kids were open and no one was in them , the kids were still in the adult only hottubs ...

Now I did ask Carnival about this and they said , If they told the parents , about it they would get mad at them and they said they tried to somewhat police the tubs but didnt really throw kids out of them , so I asked the same question as you did.. Then why have adult only hottubs if you are not going to enforce the rules of them ..

I like kids personally just not in the hottub when Im in it and sometimes even that doesnt bother me except .. I have one problem with kids in hottubs and that is kids dont want to take the time to go to the bathroom if they have to go and it worrys me while sitting in the hottub.. .espiecially the real young ones and they are young .. in them .

I dont think kids should be seen and not heard.. maybe heard and not seen .. HA HA HA that is JOKE ... my kids were young once too and now are older but they are still kids ..

Without kids we wouldnt be here or is it without us kids wouldnt be here ..

but kids are ok , its the young adults usually who are the problems I think in the late evening hours , but not all of them .. some are awfully loud tho on Carnival .. I didnt notice it on the Princess of loud kids or teenagers ..

Re: I heard Carnival has the "wildest kids" onboard

I think ALL cruise lines want ALL their passengers to have a good time and enjoy themselves{within reason}. I personally think all cruise lines are much more lax in the enforcement of " deck chair saving" and loud or unruly passengers who have spent too much at a bar than children who are out of line.

It is, and always has been, much easier to correct a child that an adult for most people.

I think it would be totally unfair to single out Carnival or any other line for any single non-enforcement of rules or how they may be applied to any "group" of passengers.

I heard Carnival has the "wildest kids" onboard

On the last two cruises we took, there were many more children onboard than one would think in mid-September. We usually saw them with the Camp Carnival group or with their parents; there weren't any running wild.

There are parents everywhere, not just on cruise ships, who don't monitor their children's behavior in public. Most times kids act up because they're bored. The only acting out we saw was a 5-year-old who stood a long time in line beside her mother waiting for her mother to buy jewelry... it wasn't an appropriate place for a child anyway.

The first day of our first cruise on Carnival, some teens seemed to be drunk & were loud in karaoke & the clubs, but it was quite obvious something was done because we saw them throughout the cruise and they were never like that again. We heard that they had sneaked liquor on board & it was confiscated. (In these forums, many adults claim to sneak liquor on, so I wonder where they'd get that idea?)

For the most part, on every Carnival ship I've been on, there has been no problem with wild children OR young adults. There's always a "character" or two onboard - but that's the case in any large group of people, right?

Sail Carnival... you'll never go back!

"Kids" on Carnival can be a problem; and, that's not limited to little ones! It's the teens-to-early-twenties thjat cause most of the noise and inconvenience.
While it's not quite the "Animal House" it once was, there's a lot more than on other lines.

To the pirate of the nice cruising ships
you should gamble with money cash in your chips
Spend some of the loot you took from the poor
give me a little and then give me some more

You say you were born two hundred years late
but there is use for you NOW in this age and date

We are talking of kids and teenagers too
and why they do the things that they do
so why dont you bring some of your pirate crew
and make them into TEENAGER STEW

just like the lizard man who cooked his lizard
what we need now is a pied piper , a wizard

to play music that leads all the children away
to camp carnival or somewhere else to play

a pirate is just the thing I would chose
so what do you say you've got nothing to lose
so next time you see a kid causing a fuss
tell him get off the ship and take a bus

or tell them that you have a brand new cruise game
it may sound quite stupid or even quite lame
but there is something called walking the plank
give those unruly kids an oxegen tank
and tell them theres fish out there in the sea
and they can jump off right now and see them for free

Keep them out of the huttubs and out of the bars
give them a good kick and send them to mars

just keep them quiet and a little afraid
invite them with you to a pirate parade
quiet them down and tell them some stories
of those days of old and of some pirate glories

and how they used to use kids for anchors and such
and how you whittled one down and he now is your crutch
and tell them the story of how you lost your leg
and that is why you now walk with a peg

Should children be quiet and seen and not heard
and what is that on your shoulder ? is that your BIRD ?
and thats the end of this story its just to absurd ..
