Does Island Princess have PC Dining?

No, PC dining is fleet-wide with the exception of their smallest ships, the Tahitian, Pacific, Royal and Regal Princess. The Coral, Sun and Grand Class ships all have PC :)

Yes it does. I'm heading to the Island Princess this weekend. Although right now I'm scheduled for "early traditional" dining, I'm deciding whether I want to try to switch to the personal choice thing...

AnnW - you can keep you early traditional dining and try the personal choice (just go to the PC dining room instead - you will get a flyer when you get to your cabin showing which is designated for PC), but I think if you officially switch it to PC, you might have trouble switching it back. I believe it's based on availability. Many people get waitlisted for traditional dining. At least that's what I was told by my old TA. If you are not sure if you will like it, I'd keep it as it is and try the PC to see what youj prefer.

Personally, I prefer the PC. I hate watching the clock when I'm on vacation!

Whatever you choose, enjoy!

If you do decide to switch to PC, PLEASE, notify the maitre'd so that someone who was waitlisted for traditional dining can take your place! It is the courteous thing to do!

Hey Lady Jag;

Are you doing a 10 day Canal cruise? I am looking at the Coral or Island for next spring. I took the Star Princess earlier this year and loved PC Dining. I hope you are right. The Princes web site does not really say that those two ships have PC Dining. Their web site says:

" Coral Princess passengers will enjoy many of Princess’ famed Personal Choice Cruising options and services... "

But with only two dining rooms I wanted to make sure. On the Star, they turned away people with Traditional Dining who wanted to change.

Hi Frank! :wave

Yes, we're on the 10 night Coral cruise for 4/1 and I can't wait! We've dined both ways with Princess - traditional and PC. I prefer traditional because you get to know the waiters and they, you, but PC is so much more relaxing! I hate rushing off to dinner.

I know what you mean about Princess' website and the lack of precise information on it. I wish they'd add more ship information too.

I'm surprised that they'd turn away people on the Star from PC dining. It seems like there's always more people hoping to get traditional dining. But, PC seems to be growing in popularity.

I think we'll find a waiter we like and request his table every night so there's some consistency in the service. I hate having to ask for Diet Coke every 10 mins.!

BTW - If you've looked at prices on this cruise, I think they are high and I'm pretty sure they'll come down in 3-4 months. :) Have fun planning!

We're back from our cruise -- we had...and stayed with...traditional early dining.

We were a bit nervous, because on our first cruise we had really horrible dining companions (table for 8, we're a party of 2)...and wanted to find a way out should that happen again.

But as it turned out, the folks that shared our table (or perhaps we shared theirs??) were delightful! We were often the last to leave the dining room (I'm sure we drove our poor waiters crazy, trying to get set up for the next dinner!), but we laughed and joked and shared wine and other liquors, and SO enjoyed ourselves , that we found ourselves continuing to party with them in the Crooner's Bar and Wheelhouse bar, several of the evenings, long after dinner was over.-

and two of the dinner folks spoke very little English (they were German), we spoke very little German. Yet we managed to communicate very well, and the experience was really one of many highlights of our cruise.
