Dress to impress..Yourself!!! Oceania cruises

Hello
Question?
As a person who enjoys dressing up for dinner along with my travel companions ( men suits, ladies cocktail dresses, high heels , evening bags etc.,)glitter.( escape from everyday life)
We dress to make the dinner a “ occasion”, and remember the events by our clothing years later.
( over 75 cruise).
It also shows respect to the ship and staff, to let them know we “ appreciate the work they do”.
Question:As we will be sailing on Oceana 2024 ,
will we feel out of place dressed up?….
And is the first day at sea a “ captains cocktail”.. that maybe we could dress up a little????
Thanks in advance for ANY clarification!!

have not sailed oceana but most of the other main lines , also over 75 cruises, recently in nothing but suites. Most people will not be dressed up, some will , I had worn my tux from mid 1980’s to about 6 years ago now rare even wear a sports jacket , but I don‘t think it’s a problem with dressing up , but I believe you will be in the minority.

.. I’m still dressing up!( I just don’t want my companions to feel self conscious).. but maybe there will be a handful , and I hope there is a captain’s cocktail party.. ( then May be ok).!

I have not cruised on that cruise line however if what you like is to dress up I would dress up and not worry about what others are wearing or look like. You paid for the cruise dress how you enjoy dressing.

We just spent 20 nights on Enchanted Princess. On the “formal” nights, there were men dressed in tux’s, suites and a nice dress shirt and slacks. Women were dressed in gowns, nice dresses and slacks with a nice top. So dress how ever you and your traveling companions want, and enjoy your cruise.

It’s all about the luggage! When the airlines get their act together and don’t lose it or put their prices up per pound for that “privilege”, we’ll get back to fancier dress ( though never in the tux league). We do carryon now but still manage to spiff and sparkle up to an occasion, however, the jacket and gown are gone. I enjoy seeing the throwback to grander days when folk like you take the time to dress!

For the first time ever..Einstein did not take his tux on the last ( Celebrity) cruise.
and my dress was more of a cocktail dress, a few inches above the ankle.
but it was only a short 14 day cruise.

We love dressing up. As mdrew said.. we love making the time special.
but.. times are changing. That does not mean that the tux etc is banished.. but perhaps on short cruises..

Hey great info guys. My tux stopped flying and have gone with the trusted blue blazer for a while now. But thinking of taking it on next cruise with no flying involved. Haven't worn a gown in many many years. Got in trouble in the 90's on the new Zenith at the time. but I'm wander off topic. ........
