Dressing for night time activities

I was just curious as to how people normally dress in the night clubs and also at the shows and other night time activities? I was hoping I could get away with a nice top, jeans, and sandals or such, any advice? Thanks.

We usually wear what we wore to dinner that night. Sometimes we do dress down a little on formal night, depending on how much we ate. ;)

Never seen anyone dress in the night clubs. Usually they do that in their cabin. Otherwise, I agree with the post above. What you wore to dinner is fine, except on formal night when you might want to slip into something a little more comfortable.

I usually change into my jeans and a glittery top and strappy sandles, wear low heels you will do a lot of walking. I learned that after our first cruise. Have fun be comfortable it is your Vacation,

Hi - I'm a first time cruiser and was wondering about the dress code for dinner. My husband and I will be on the Carnival Conquest in May. Is it okay to wear jeans to dinner?

jeans to the dining room....

the dining room is a tad more formal then for jeans. ( would you wear jeans to a familys nice wedding>??)

but that said== there is nothing stated about jeans-- only shorts, bathing suits and tee shirts are not to be worn._

I just went on my cruise this past December and I brought a whole bunch of fancy clothes (including two very formal dresses, 2 somewhat fancy dresses, as well as black pants skirts and nice tops) and i found by the end of the week I was wearing jeans with a nice top to dinner, just because of the overall atmosphere of everybody else in the dining room. I don't know if this is typical on all cruises, but I went expecting to be very well dressed every night and found everybody else wasn't.

Thanks for your input. My husband and I "clean up well" but are more interested in enjoying the experience than about what to wear so we just wanted to get an idea of what to expect.

My friends and I dressed nice very night for dinner. We had the 2 formal nights then the other nights were some type of dress or dressy pant outfits. We enjoy dressing up because most of us don't have the occasion to do it at home and it's fun to us. Some nights we went to the clubs and show in our dinner cloths and some nights we went back and put on jeans or capris to go out in the clubs. We found that most eveyone in our dining room dressed nice for dinner, dont recall any jeans. This was on the Carnival Valor, late dinner.

Good thread! DW and I will be leaving in two weeks on the Glory. Can some tell me what "Resort Wear" is?

Everybody? C'mon now. Very FEW people wear jeans to the formal dining room, (certainly not on formal night), and it is definitely discouraged on any night. A formal dining room setting is NOT that casual. You should wear (and MOST do) something similiar to what you'd wear to a wedding or to a very nice land restaurant. MOST Carnival cruisers dress according to the guidelines....or they have their evening meal in the very casual Lido Deck buffet area. I have seen the maitre d' on a couple of ships turning people away for being inappropriately dressed. Doing his job, and I appreciate that.

We are going on our seventh Carnival cruise and other than the two formal nights, we don;t do a lot of dressing up in the dining room. I have worn several pants outfits, white jeans and a nice top with sandals, one time even capris with a nice tip and sandals. I have to dress every day for work, so I like to relax on our cruises. Husband wears dress jeans or dockers and a golf shirt or Hawaiian shirt. It is like Las Vegas, it used to be very dressy at night, now it is cleanliness, comfort but of course style. Believe me, if you do not look "appropriate" you will be turned away.

Resort casual is similar to what you would see in a Docker's Ad. I wear my khaki slacks, or my capris and a nice shirt or blouse and a light sweater since it can get a little chilly in some areas -- dining room, theater, lounges. I wear strappy comfy sandals. This year I am bringing along a few denim skirts too.
