Hi,

I have heard that some ships charge for drinking water (bottled water). Does Carnival Miracle charge a fee for water? I drink quite a bit of water in a day and wondered about that.

Dear Lillian,
Carnival places large bottles of water in the cabins ($3.35 each), and makes bottled water available at the ship exits when you are going ashore. Problem is, they DO charge for all bottled water.
We have always brought bottled water on board packed in our luggage. Two weeks ago, we even saw several people in the embarkation line who carried a case (12 or 16 botttles) of water on board. Carnival posts on their website that this is OK. Just carry enough for your group, and it will be fine.
I also had a small collapsabe ice chest that I kept in the room. Mention it to your cabin steward, and slip them a few EXTRA bucks, and they will keep your water iced down for you.

For other free drinks (tea, lemonade, juice, tap water), be sure to bring some sort of closeable, wide-mouth bottle, so you don't have to keep getting out of your deck chair to re-fill those small glasses they provide. (wide-mouth allows you to add ice).

And... this time I brought a travel-style coffee mug to put my hot chocolate or coffee (free. also) in, so I wouldn't spill it while walking around.

Have a great time!

Actaully Carnival does not charge for drinking bottled water. However, you do have to buy the water (and the container it is in) before you can drink it. But drinking it is free. The tap water is filtered and quite good. Give it a try. Unlike the bottled water, the tap water is free (you don't have to buy it before you drink it).

We only bring a few bottles and keep refilling them the tap water is good and the steward keeps the ice filled to keep it chilled. I did have to keep asking for ice. Even after a tip I had to ask, but he did bring it right away once I asked. He said something about he wasn't allowed to fill unless asked per his boss. But then maybe $5 isn't enough for Ice? Pat

The tap water is very good. No problem at all.If most people knew where the bottled water came from they would drink the tap water anyway. Most bottled water comes right from the city water system's and is filtered. Here in florida there are some water company's that have spring's or deep well's in the middle of the state and truck it to the plant to be filtered, then bottled. But a lot of them use city water and bottle it as spring water. Viet

I bring a large jug, fill it with ice on Lido, and then with the tap water there. Lasts a long time and it's FREE. Gets awfully hot up on deck>
