I have never been to Dunns Falls, so I do not know what to expect.

Is it the sort of excursion that you can take a 5 yr old child on? Or is it too much for a little child? I thought of not actually climbing the falls, but just taking the stairs with her but I don't have a concept of even if this is feasible. Is it just too high/too many steps?

Are the steps slippery?

Thanks!!

In my opinion, the falls will be too hard for her. There are areas where the water is waist deep for an adult. Plus that water is coming down the falls pretty good, sometimes its just rolling over your ankles, but in some places its a bit more forcefull. The steps that run up next the falls are in good shape (well, its been a few years now since Ive been there, they WERE in good shape then). Maybe wet, but I dont remember them being slippery. Its several steps, of course, but I think she could do it. Plus, she could go into the water at the bottom of the falls and maybe climb a few rocks if they will allow that.

Hi

I was just there in sept with my 8 and 12yr old daughters... they were fine... at five mine could probably have done it but shes pretty athletic... if you and your husband don't mind lifting her up in certain places you could probably do it but if she scares easily then you can just go up the stairs which are still in good condition.... the only thing i hate is when you leave the falls they send you out through the area where the locals are selling stuff and they will hound you to buy stuff and they will try to give your daughter free wooden beads or carved animals but they aren't free they then expect you to give them money because of all the time it took them to carve them.... they think once the kid has the item they won't want to give it back and the parents won't make them....
